I have a pair of lutinos in my aviary here in England. They seem to be doing ok. They sleep in the baskets with my society finches, all piled in together. They share the aviary with canaries, bourkes parakeets, redpolls, diamond doves and two male zebra finches.

I tend to disagree on this one. Males have a high twirling song that the female don't have. I have 6 blue face in a mixed aviary and was able to leg band my males by hearing their song. And yes also watching males chance females is another way. But I definitely can tell the difference between the sexes by listening to their song. Great video. I would like one on European Goldfinches. That would be great . Thanks.

Agree. The cockbird also has brighter, more extensive blue on forehead and cheeks (mentioned by Chris). Here in Australia they're found on the fringe of rainforest. They appreciate plenty of shrubs/bushes. Which offers cover for pursued hens. Great video guys.
