I feel like I can’t even give it credit for being pretty, like the layout, building designs, all that were done by Disney and all the other assets seem like they’re just stylized off of other EA Star Wars games assets??? Like what did the SIMS team bring to the table here????
Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if they weren’t actually allowed to bring anything 😬 Disney is notoriously insane about copyright and people were speculating that the reason you can’t interact with anything, change shoes on outfits, etc is because Disney doesn’t want anyone fucking around with their properties

This made me realize why I like The Sims 4 so much, it's the building. I only like building in The Sims 4 and nothing else, there's a problem when only 1/3rd of your game is enjoyable. everything else is a pain. (and maaybe create a sim because the actual gameplay is painful)

Yeah the colours suck, I wish they would make another planet as a game pack, but better though, lol,l. One where you can actually play as an alien and live there, as a home planet. With fun colours and space plants.
@@missundies I agree. I don't understand why they wouldn't do something like "Journey To Sixam" and do some star wars themed things. Yes, you can go to Sixam with Get To Work. But they could have used this pack to expand Sixam. Make it livable. Update the aliens with new looks, CAS, maybe a tier system like Vampires, and maybe even created an alien pet (because we seriously need more pets).
New items to collect, new things to explore, and using farming (a feature not yet introduced) to survive on this planet. A feature they could later expand into the base game or a pack.
Using Science and technology to try and make the air breathable on Sixam, create it's own oxygen. Maybe trying to lower the planet's temperature or raise it. Maybe certain parts of the planet too hot things catch fire and too cold things freeze. You have to study the cores planet and figure out how to survive here.
And you accidentally created a new weapon from the core. A "light saber". But it wouldn't be called that.
Next thing you know, there's a faction of aliens and/or humans who have come to Sixam because it's core is maybe the ultimate source of energy. They travel the galaxy destroying planets and stealing this energy.
You can choose two paths. Save the planet and unite it with Earth against the forces of darkness. Or join the "dark side" and relish in the destruction and supreme energy the core has to offer.

I agree, and even then, I think Plumbella is still too nice about it, but she at least tries to give her opinions in constructive ways. If I'm watching another gamechanger who only says positive things, it will start to convince me to not buy the packs, tbh. I know, you know and all people who aren't sheep know that the packs (and sims 4 as a whole) are really not that great and are definitely letdowns.

The wipe transition has actually been a staple of the Star Wars franchise since the first film in the 70's, long before windows movie maker existed. Cute detail but the pack is still shite.

Even if the sims 3 is on steam, when I tried to do that a few years ago cause it was on sale, it told me to go to origin to install and play it... the problem being somehow expansions I got on origin wouldn’t work with the steam code copy of the game. It was bad, but they have probably fixed it by now.

As far as I remember MacBooks can run the game, but some of the textures like the default grass around the world is a little glitchy. At least that was the case for mine several years ago, I don’t know if they have amended their gaming problems.
i love how for 5 years the community has been begging EA to focus more on substance versus aesthetics so we actually have a game to play, and then they drop this pack no one wanted and expect us to have fun clicking on empty buildings and sleeping in a tent... but at least i can buy a bb droid!

I feel like Jesse best represents what the concept of the EA Game Changers was initially made for, 'cause she is NOT takin' their shit and genuinely reflects what most players actually want and how we feel things are being handled and it is v refreshing- I only wish EA actually, you know, listened...
The transitions are classic to the star wars films, they did it back in the day and kept it in the modern films because it adds that authenticity across all the films, it is old school but it works in the films, its a bit weird in the game though x
I've played Sims since the first game came out and I never had enough money to buy all the expansion packs I wanted (or my parents wouldn't buy them for me when I was a kid, which was absolutely okay; parents aren't made of money, either). I promised myself that, once I had a job that paid well, I'd buy every game pack and expansion for a Sims game on principle. You know, just so I could fulfill that wish.
Now I do have a well-paying job. I've bought game packs and expansions I wasn't entirely hooked on just on principle or because build/buy and CAS delivered an aesthetic I liked (StrangerVille, for example, because I'm not a huge fan of Stranger Things; My first Pet Stuff because it's garbage but for completion's sake since it contained items that should have been in Cats & Dogs and also: blinds; I wanted those window blinds badly).
And I love Star Wars. Always loved it. I survived the clusterfuck that was the prequel trilogy. I was moderately entertained (though ultimately disappointed) by the sequel trilogy. I've played Star Wars games and I loved them. I should be happy to throw my money at something that's Sims AND Star Wars. And I'm not. I liked the tongue in cheek references Sims gave us in the past. I like the costumes. I don't like this and for the first time, a new pack is announced and my reaction isn't "I don't know whether I'll buy this right away" but instead "I'm not buying that". That makes me sad.
The idea of merging Star Wars and Sims isn't a bad one and I think there was great potential. It could have been a fan pack, introducing the movies and other aspects of the franchise into the game. Add short Star Wars "movies" to the Sims tv programs, expand on costumes. That could have been fun. Even an overall crossover with Disney could have been great and entertaining if it added more gameplay for babies (once they stop being objects), toddlers and children. Everything you can slap a Mickey Mouse on or a Disney princess would have been fair game and probably fun. Make the park an actual themed vacation world and include - if you have to - Batuu and Main Street etc.
This on the other hand is an advertisement for an amusement park that adds nothing to my game and that EA expects me to pay money for. And sorry, but I remember what it was like to have no money. I am not giving you money for this, EA. Not even if you discount this game. Step up YOUR GAME and please start listening to the community. I WANT to give you money. But I'm not going to let you rip me off.

I love that there is so little to talk about and do that Jesse talks about scanning the Millennium falcon 3 times.
If there's water I would expect to be able to fish, swim, snorkle and boat. If there's vegetation I expect harvestables to spawn. Basically, if it's a world I expect it to act like it is and have things spawn in it and people living in it and buyable lots.
They had an opportunity to make a new system where you travel between planets and have some sort of cost added for travelling. No? Just same old, then.

@6:11 the reason they put those transitions in the Batuu area of Sims 4 loading screens, is because it is how scenes are transitioned in the Star Wars movies. It's for the nostalgia. But I can see how if you hadn't watched the movies it looks poorly executed or "windows movie maker". Remember the original movies were made in 1977, 1980, and then 1983, so that was a "cool", "futuristic", and "innovative" way of scene transitions of the time. They continued this aesthetic throughout the franchise as it kept the feel and throwback to the original movies.
The transitions are an easter egg as they are the same used in the old school star wars movies in many places. It's actually a very cool touch for the fans (and I'm really not the biggest star wars fan).
New expansion pack idea. Hear me out:
Underworld/Afterlife.
Could be anything! Hades type Greek underworld (multiple areas, with the whole crossing into the underworld type thing) , your typical paradise world etc.
Sims has been simulating life for years (and we've got death and ghosts in Sims too). So why not visit the Grim Reaper? Why not put BONEHILDA in this pack, too? You know, create a little story of why she's a reanimated skeleton?
This kind of idea offers endless possibilities - it could tie into what aspirations the Sims completed in their life, they could visit the land of the living as ghosts (like ghosts do already). You could vacation in the underworld (heeeey, Persephone style!). Science career Sims (or occult Sims) could visit the underworld realm. Boom, you've interlinked multiple packs. Heck, you could even put a little pop up with a question whether or not you want your sim to continue on into the underworld when they die or just poof out of existence. When you think about it, it makes sense. Some people want that continuity of gameplay, whilst adding something fresh.
But nope. We get star wars. Be bold, Sims team!
Yess that would be such a good pack like if they fleshed it out and did it well

That sort of thing could also flesh out elders more, although some might think this is morbid: they could start thinking about the afterlife when it's almost their time, they could make wills, having 'dying wishes,' bucket lists (kind of like aspirations but more varied and less fleeting than whims). Dare I say bring back the memory system 👀

My head canon is that EA and Disney forced the Sims Team to make this pack, and the Sims Team did that poll to try to show EA that nobody was really interested in their stupid Disney Parks Star Wars pack idea. But Disney wanted to throw too much money at EA for them to turn it down.
This is supposed to be a game pack. I’m really struggling to see the gameplay. It’s all just the same things we’ve seen before just presented differently.

They've been selling physical copies of Sims 4 + Starwars Expansion, in all the game shops near me. And they're usually placed near the star wars games rather than near the regular version of Sims 4.
EA was definitely catering towards Starwars fans rather than Simmers.

There’s... really nothing. I remember visiting the park in Sims 3 for seasonal holidays and it would have as much stuff as in all 3 sectors crammed into 1 park. Skating/snowboarding, eating contests, water/snowball fights, kissing booth, apple bobbing, food and drinks, searching for items, jumping into straw or snowdrifts, photo booth, face painting... I feel like I’ve listed as many things as this world has in it.
Those transitions of loading screens are in all the Star Wars films lol. It adds a bit of Star Wars charm :)

We know that the Sims team can do better because we have Sims 2 and 3 as an example, so we shouldn't put up with shit just because it's Sims. And they've been making mediocre packs lately. correction: when you reach a certain level you can explore IN the falcon - as in your sim goes in it, you wait for like an hour, and your sim appears back again. its fuckin hopeless
Welp. This game pack has completely lived up to my every expectation. I thought initially that it was just a pretty commercial EA wants us to pay for; that once in it, you'd find nothing but sadness and unfulfilled hopes, and that the build/buy mode stuff wouldn't work in ANY other world. I really wish I'd been wrong. ~ sigh ~
Those are the transitions used in the movies and is a retro call back to the original trilogy. So actually, that part is a nice touch.

Honestly I was kinda excited for this pack because I've been to the Disney World version of Galaxy's Edge and loved it.
However, seeing in your reviews how there's barely ANYTHING in here is sad because there's so much cool stuff in the parks that they could have made into actual buildings and not rabbitholes.

My speculation is that Disney is seriously considering releasing a virtual tour of the parks in the form of a video game, and they are testing the market and weighing their options. I could see a 3D rendering with walkthrough and ability to ride the rides selling well if carefully done, and I could see it being a disaster if slapped together.
Wasn't there a Disney Parks game in development a long time ago? Where you could meet characters and such? I feel like I remember a beta or trailer or something

Plumbella's enthusiasm for this game pack is my mood.
im a huge star wars fan, and a life simulation star wars game with extensive character creation and building options, no linear storyline, like simply the ability to play your dream star wars life in a game sounds super cool but this pack doesnt even touch that idea.... at all

I know this is random but imagine if instead of a.........hot tub.For the 20th year anversary.They chose a couple of game changers.And each gave them one thing they have been begging for.Like imagine this.They first showed a emotional history of bella goth the clown and the Sims logo 1 to 4.Then in a low voice they say"We have chose a few game change's for a surprise.FIRST lillsimsie,We give you a chance to make your cow plants fall in love and have a cow plant house.Plumbella.After all these years since 2000.We will be giving you....bonehilda......."."And fan base I give you preteens bunk beds and color wheel for hair eyes and skin tone."!!!!!!
