32 goat kids greet the day!

- Today I’m leaping into the day with an intention to turn all my “have tos” into “get tos”! The goats model this for me every day!
(The goats are getting harder and harder to take video of because they are so eager for human attention that they get super close and follow me wherever I walk! So funny!)
After 15 years of owning goats, you would think the routine would get old, but every morning we are freshly surprised by the kids’ enthusiasm as they greet the day! It always makes a smile to see their sweet faces in the morning, and to see them head into the barn at night content and happy after a long day of playing in the field with the herd! We currently have 32 baby goats and 32 adult goats, but today is Sweet Pea’s due date. And in the days ahead, six dams are due so many new little friends will be joining the herd! Can’t wait to meet them and share them with you! Thanks got following along for all the spring fun!

Love the first part of the video, first the mums walk out sedately but we can hear the babies' bleating in the background, followed by them literally exploding out of the barn! Fantastic. And the 2 stragglers at the end, too cute. Goodness! More babies to look forward to 😊❤🐐❤

I grew up on a farm in Sth. Eastern Australia, a long way from town. We had a goat my father milked each evening. Lovely, peaceful, tender animals. Love 'em. Thank you.

How do you keep the babies from the moms like that? Do you take the moms for milking/weighing? That collective "kids scream" was crazy! ❤
Good question! Maybe they thought the poor mums deserve ten seconds of "me-time" to themselves. 😂
That is part of it! At three weeks the kids begin to sleep on their own in a kids stall. It gives the moms a break, and also make sure that all the kids learn how to eat grain and hay and drink water before they leave to their new homes in groups of two or three at eight weeks old. We milk the moms part way and then reunite the families for the day in the pasture! Not long after we begin this routine, the kids know they are going to get grain and run to their sleepover stall! It seems to work for everyone!

I had the volume up and the kids' noisy chorus really caught me off guard! I love their energy when they burst out of the barn. Their mamas are so patient, some of them look like the kids are using their udders like a punching bag, nursing so vigorously. Wowza....what a bunch....they sure are rough on the mamas when nursing. Guess they are used to it. Hearing them bleating before they even leave the barn...well, they are just too sweet...all that running everywhere! 😄 I checked my "playback" speed just to make sure it wasn't up high! It wasn't 🥰
