CORRECTION: The Moonlight setting is not 2% but instead something lower, not written anywhere but it definitely is low.
I've been using the Reylight Pineapple Mini since early December 2022, and it's still in my daily carry. If you want to dive into EDC flashlights, this is definitely a contender. Now the power increase with the 10440 battery is HUGE (500lm) compared to an AAA battery (limited at 90lm).

I just ordered the Mini and regular Pineapple (i got it - "review" is below), and absolutely LOVE flashlights that have customizable outputs..! I kinda wish they would allow me to program light intensity for Low/Mid/High individually, and ideally in a "stepless" fashion (like on the Wuben X-0), so i could adjust brightness to just the right amount for minimizing power drain while still being able to find my way in the dark. Still, the customizability of the Pineapples are still a HUGE step up from not having such functionality, and as these are not especially focused beams, i dont plan to use these for hikes where i have to conserve power anyway. For that i have the Nitecore MT1A, which gets 60 hours from a AA battery on the low 5 lumen setting. This is 280 candela (56 candela per lumen), and PLENTY bright enough to find my way in the dark. I just got the Mecarmy X1S, which is a tiny 130 lumen titanium keychain twisty flashlight with TIR optics. Its low 12 lumen mode (8 lumen according to manufacturer, but 12 according to 2 other sources) is good for between 2 and 2,5 hours of hiking (i tested runtimes myself). 12 lumen is not enough to navigate difficult unfamiliar trails, but still more than bright enough for a short/medium night hike in my local area, and i dont think anyone would expect a keychain flashlight to be a good choice for exploration anyway, lol!

OMG, these flashlights are so good i honestly dont think im gonna buy another flashlight for a LONG time..!
The AA Pineapple is my favorite both when it comes to beam pattern and color temperature. It has the 219b emitter, which gives a nice hotspot with enough spill to make it ideal for hiking.
The Mini has a 519a emitter, and a very nice and soft beam pattern with a considerably warmer color temperature than the AA version, which is ideal for use around camp.
Running on a NiMH battery, the Low 2% output (on either of these flashlights) is close to perfect brightness for night hikes. As NiMH batteries give a stable charge until the end, the brightness on the low setting will not drop before the battery is almost completely depleted. I struggle to find runtimes for the low setting on this flashlight, but i BELIEVE the Mini will get a runtime of around 20 hours with a 800mAh NiMH on the 2% setting. This is longer than the entire night on winter solstice (where i live), and definitely enough for an overnighter out in the woods. The regular size Pineapple has much longer runtimes, which is great for most people who want a somewhat bright light when hiking. But even people like me - who generally prefer dim lights - can still appreciate its throw on brighter settings.

Hey! I’m looking for a good EDC flashlight! What would you recommend? Size shouldnt be too big but not a keychain size either as I don’t want to lose 😄 USB-C charging would be the best 👍🏻

Wow. That's interesting and thans for the input! The feature to set intensity is definitely greatly appreciated.

@@timovehkaoja That really depends on your preference (floodlight vs thrower), priorities (how much runtime do you need), and what you want to use it for. Im not a flashlight expert, but i have taken my time finding some that i really enjoy, and the ones i described above are some of my favorites.
The Nitecore MT1A is even used by NATO, so that tells me its one of the best AA flashlights in the world. A great feature on this flashlight is that you access turbo mode (180 lumens) by twisting the head. This means that you can flip quickly back and forth between turbo and your favorite "non turbo" mode (5, 22, or 55 lumen, SOS, or strobe), without having to flip through several modes to get to the one you want. It does not have any form of USB charging, but the runtimes are good enough to last a full weekend trip of camping... 5lm/60h, 22lm/18h, 55lm/5h 30min, 180lm/1h 30min. The 5 lumen mode is almost half the candela of the 180 lumen mode on the Olight "i1R 2 Pro", and the 22 lumen is so good i almost never use the 55 lumen. I think this is a very good size for EDC, if you want good battery capacity, or really dont want smaller flashlights.
You say you are afraid of loosing a keychain flashlight - but how often do you loose your keys? The Mecarmy X1S is by far my favorite keychain flashlight, and they also have an aluminum version for around $25 (as well as stainless steel and copper for a bit more), so then its not the end of the world if you did loose it. Aluminum is also better at dispersing heat than titanium, and i have never seen an aluminum flashlight break, so titanium is not really necessary unless you are a "gear freak" like me, lol...

      @@AndreasSippus You can only set the lumen in specific ranges though;
      Moonlight - 1-15lumen
      Low - 15-50 lumen
      Mid - 50-150 lumen
      High 150-300 lumen
Turbo - 900 lumen for high CRI version and 1100 lumen for cool white
On this flashlight it is very simple to customize. Just activate the mode/preset (ML/low/mid/high) you want to edit, and click + "click & hold" the button, and it will start to cycle up and down the lumen range. Once it reach max/min setting, it will turn off for a split second, to let you know its at its max/min setting...

@@EspenFrafalne The trick is that I don’t want any extra stuff on my keys as I don’t want them to be like a dang Christmas jingle. 😄
In Finland it is really darn dark during winter, so it would be an everyday flashlight for taking out the dogs to the woods, finding stuff under the bed or sofa and for fixing my Audi if it break down 😄 i’d also appreciate if it had a glass breaker tip.

Yeah this is annoying I can buy this light if I pay almost half it’s price to ship it to the USA since the maker is small and can’t keep up with demand.
