Director Terence Young was the commander of a British army Sherman tank in 1944-45. He served in 30th Corps at the Battle of Arnhem in Sept 1944. Young’s tank shelled Arnhem where one of the inhabitants was a young teenage Audrey Hepburn. Young later directed her in one of his films!
Well, I haven’t watched the movie. I just saw the comment, but if you’re trying to sneak around and not be noticed in a tank thread, scarf isn’t gonna make any difference.
A pretty decent movie! I'm surprised I've never seen this one before now, thanks for sharing it. Typical "Hollywood" inaccuracies and amazing "wound" recoveries but all in all, a pretty good movie to watch. Thanks again!
They screwed up when they named this "Tank Force." It should've been named, "Prisoners of War," because 90% of the movie was about them being prisoners!
Production team included many of the folks who went on to do the James Bond 007 movies ! The Director , writer, producer and many more help start the series in the 60's and beyond.
Yes, this film is from 1958, so it is full of inaccuracies. It is more an adventure film staged in WW II. It’s interesting to see British, German, Italian and Arab relationships portrayed in the film. Even the German officer trying to abide by the Geneva Conventions.
yeah typically they didnt give a damn about the Geneva Convention, i found that part a bit cringe, among many other parts of the film but its for entertainment so it did that. Was an alright movie, i havent watched many with this guy as the main character, dont like him too much
There is a bit in the movie 12 O'clock High near the start where a B17 returning from a mission crash lands at the airfield. Being the 50s the film makers decided the most practical way of filming this scene was to crash land a B17 at the airfield. A lot of these older movies have somewhat dated plots, acting and story pacing, but the simple fact they often used full scale practical effects - sometimes with ring ins like this movie, sometimes with the real equipment - is still very compelling to watch.
Plus side - those are real Centurions, Cromwells and a real AEC armoured car. Down side - None of those vehicles served in North Africa. I also believe the movie was actually filmed in Libya. I don't regret watching this (okay, I skipped some bits in the middle) but probably not going to race out and tell my friends about it.
There were several other actors considered for the lead role before it went to Mature including Montgomery Cliff, Van Johnson, Jeff Chandler and Alan Ladd.
“No Time to Die” - English title. “The Pole” was played by Bonar Colleano. He died at the wheel of a car (leaving the Queensway Tunnel) in the same year as this movie was released. He was age 34.

This movie is really bad from the standpoint tanks dont do battle like this. For example, WW2 tanks didnt fire on the run. And what idiot retreats with the tanks backside showing directly to the enemy? Its the tanks weakest point.
Oh brother.....30 minutes into the film I am rolling my eyes. Firstly, the Afrika Korps did not execute prisoners who escaped and were recaptured. Secondly, the Gestapo was not active in the North African Campaign in interrogating prisoners. Way over the top and flag-flying bravado.

A whole tank?
He’s lucky to have survived the Sherman….
Has to be the Hand of God.
So he was one of them that arrived late. The main battle was over then.

Overall a pretty good movie and worth the time to watch!
Thankyou for the nice movie 🎥 and your 👍🏼👍🏼

The British title makes more sense; "No Time to Die!"
Even that was too much. Tanks dont do battle and fire on the run. They needed to stop, aim and fire.
Its so funny to see the man with the red scarf jump, out of the trick and the passing by truckdrivers do not see him! Hilarious
