Calvinism is the belief that all people are so utterly depraved that they cannot choose to follow Jesus Christ; those that do were pre-chosen by God before they were even born. We therefore have no free choice. John MacArthur and Justin Peters are Calvinists. I haven't yet compared their bible revision.

First, man IS so depraved that he can't save himself (herself). When a person is drawn by the Holy Spirit, the person is so corrupt, that they are given faith to be saved; you don't have that faith within yourself, because you are dead in sin. Ever witness to a dead person? No one is home. They do not respond. "There is none righteous, no, not one. There is none who understands. There is none who seeks after God...." Romans 3:10,11. And regarding John MacArthur; he is not a translator. He worked with Lockman, received permissions to use the text of the NASB, but other scholars did the translating. And it sounds noble to insist on original manuscripts, but there aren't any whole manuscripts. Those turned to dust hundreds of years ago. Translators work from collected pieces of papyri and vellum manuscripts, found all over the Middle East, and I believe Asia as well. Most scholars don't believe those came from the hands of Moses, Paul and the apostle John. Don't get me wrong; the Bible is one of the best attested collection of writings around, but 2 millennia is a long time. And the Old Testament is much older than that. Have a good Lord's day.
Why do people hate Calvinist so much? Is it because they actually preach the gospel unlike many people today (and of course Calvinist are not the only ones too)
@g.h_-heart-_bunny The gospel is the Good News that Jesus Christ shed His precious sinless blood so that whosoever believes in Him has eternal life. John 3 15-17. However, Calvinists believe that our depravity is such that we have no free choice, but that God already chose who will go to hell and who will be saved, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. It's called the TULIP doctrine. Not Good News at all in fact. Faith on Fire explains it all perfectly.
