    This was an easy coup for the males! The real challenge is how they’ll fare against other males. The lionesses will need these males to be strong, for not only do male lions help protect the pride and its territory from rival males and other prides, but will also assist in taking down dangerously large prey like adult Cape buffaloes, young rhinos, hippos, giraffes, and even elephant calves.

    Good luck to the Tintswalo males! Let your roars echo through the South African wilderness! I look forward to how they (and the other predators) will do.

    I'm glad to see that you're looking after the rhinos. I've been saying for years that the rhinos and elephants should have their tusk removed. It's not ideal and it's not fair to the animals but as long as man has placed a price on those items they would never be safe.
    I really wish I was a younger man. I could honestly see myself living in Africa the rest of my life looking out for these beautiful animals. A good friend of mine she followed that path. When she was serving in the US military she was stationed in Africa. Any time she had free time she spent it at different research facilities. Before enlisting she was on the path of being a lawyer. When she came back to America she changed the legal courses that she was taking. She moved into the animal rights part of the law. Which to be honest I never knew there was such a thing. After passing her bar exams and having all her degrees she sold everything she owned and moved to Africa to work on animal rights over there. It's been 10 years since she did that and she has told me she never has regretted doing it. She only regrets she has is not doing it earlier.
    I'm really enjoy watching your videos. Some of them I have watched more than once. I know it's not easy for you to see the ugliness of what's going on there but hopefully you have more wonderful days than bad. I look forward to watching your next video.

    The three Mbiris remind me of Skorro and the Nharu male of Sizanani. This could be the case since Sizanani was gravely injured in Dec. of 2016, so Skorro probably sired more offspring born in 2017. More than half of all of the Mbiri cubs died since there were initially 16 of them! Their rise in the previous territory of the Orpen Males made me feel emotional for some reason. I cannot believe the Orpens are now gone, both struck down in their prime. Are any Mbiris confirmed pregnant? ;(

  • @zvexevz
    @zvexevz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sensational images, amazing that you got them all together at such a perfect viewing angle. Perfect time to announce their official naming.
    These are the same males that were hanging around the Mbiri pride intermittently, when the Orpen males were not in the area? And the same group that is made up of three males from the Mbiri pride and one from Nharu?
    Also, will they remain with the Mbiri pride and mate with them? I saw in Mala Mala that the females from the Kambula pride were becoming intolerant of their older male sub adults and were joining the dominant males.in putting pressure on them to leave the pride. Will that not happen in this case and the Mbiri females will accept this new coalition?
    Either way, great work as always, thank you for the great video and keeping us updated on the wildlife.

    • @kath6726
      @kath6726 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the Tinswalo Males are made up of 3 Mbiri and 1 Nharu male. I personally hope they don't remain with the Mbiri Pride and mate with them since the 3 Mbiris came from that pride! They would be mating with their own mothers, aunts, sisters, half-sisters, cousins.... Besides, about half of them might be pregnant by the Orpens, furthering complicating matters. Should be interesting to see things unfold in the coming months.

      Whoever follows them and puts hard work in photographing them has the right to name them, and it is not ridiculous to name them as you say to those who suggest that. Do not impose your opinion and describe the opinion of others as ridiculous. It is not your right

I even thought whether Tintswalo would be the appropriate lodge for their name to be associated with. Needless to say, the name couldnt be more perfect. Wondered if any results returned for Junior the Orpen male, and if any trace of Buddy has been seen. Thank you for the lovely sighting of these males. They will be something when mature.

    Hey guys.. It's Robert from USA. Thanks for those amazing vid's. I can never get enough. You guys are GREAT conservationist. There's other's as well. But you all are very personable. The shots of those loving male lions (yawni'n is contagious, even w humans) was AMAZING. I think your area (Tinswalo) has SPECIAL animals (mostly) well behaved lol

    But it would be strange if they become dominant over the Mbiri pride (their mothers), right?
