the picture when Yang show to him is her mom. Yang try to find her for year because they left yang and Ruby when they were kid they never see her mom only live with father and uncle.- Both of Yang and Ruby is not really sister but cousin because they have same father name Taiyang Xiao Long but different mom. Mother of Ruby is Sumer Rose and Mother of Yang is Raven Branwen. Why Yang can change to red eye because Yang has the ability to absorb energy from the damage she has taken, and redirect it twice as hard at her opponent, effectively making her stronger with each hit she takes. She can save up the energy to use later for an even more devastating attack. When her semblance is active, her eyes become red and her hair gains a fiery glow. That why her eyes is red she have to take damage a have to feel pain too but different from Adam man who in black trailer. He have same Semblance but different way to collet energy. He will use him sword to collet it and doesn't need felling pain to collet it but both of them hair is grow because they can collet energy if he doesn't have sword he can't collet it That different on their Semblance. sry if my English bad
The only way they could be cousins is if Qrow was Ruby's father due to him being Raven's brother Ruby and Yang are half sisters because they have the same dad but different mothers

hey assuming you've only watched the trailers (or are just getting into it) their powers are actually called semblance's. rubys is called Petal Burst (or speed), weiss has the Schnee family Semblance of Glyphs which lets her summon things such as the giant knight that you see in her trailer in later seasons, blake's is called Shadow, and yangs is called burn which is actually where she gets stronger by taking hits and using that energy to fight back.
i'm sorry if this was a AU sort of thing, and you where just trying to make it fit in with the ninjago univeres (i literally know nothing about ninjago i'm just here for the rwby content)? this isn't here to bring any hate, hopfully you don't take it that way but i just wanted to spread some info about it because i'm really into rwby right now. (4th season to be exact haha.)
