I'm currently collecting GI Joe, Transformers and MotU, but the Classified Series has taken priority. GI Joe was always my favorite as a kid and these figures hit every nostalgic mark. Hawk was my preferred leader back in the day so I was super excited for this. I had him on preorder, but then decided to cancel and wait for a sale, which I'm pretty certain will happen. He looks great and will absolutely end up on the shelf at some point, but I can wait a bit. For me Hawk is a must-have, just not a must-have-now. Great review, as always! I appreciate your approach to reviewing. You take it seriously enough as a collector but with plenty levity at the fact that we're collecting toys here :) Thanks and well done!
I've dropped a lot of my other lines to prioritise Classified too! You're absolutely right about the nostalgia mark - I'm in hook, line & sinker too. And thank you for your kind words about the reviews. It's my pleasure to have you here :)
I gave him SGT Slaughter’s swagger stick and took off the helmet and chest holster…. The cut on his waist is tapered like that because the actual jacket has that design. It’s on point. BTW, the eagle on his chest is a US colonel rank, a bit off putting since he’s a Brigader General.
Hand swap! I didn't think of that - which is funny because I'm always banging on about hand swaps. A pointy, "ordering-about" finger would have been perfect!
Appreciate the rundown. I just opened my figured while watching your review for a quick comparison. Luckily my wrists/hands seem to fit better than yours, but on the flip side my weapons did come fairly bent. (Win some, lose some). I really like the figure on first glance, the jacket in particular has some nice detail. I also do agree with you on the accessories - a map or radio would have made more sense. Even in the old Marvel comics where he was a field officer (before being promoted to General,) he still tended to hang back a good chunk of the time while sending others in. I need to re-watch the GI Joe movie to see what role he plays there; I've been slowly going through the old Sunbow cartoons and he doesn't feature much in them. That said, I am looking forward to unboxing a HISS tank and getting some pictures of him in a fist fight with Destro on the back of it. That was a really fun storyline early in the Marvel run; maybe I need to pick up one of these clearance retro Baronesses to have her in an explosion in the background 😆
You opened alongside? That's super-cool man! That's fun! Hawk got in the mix a bit - I remember in the Arise, Serpentor, Arise storyline he was in the BAT fight early doors and he is pretty combat active in the movie. I've also got a weird vivid memory of him arguing with the Prime Minister of France while in a tank... or maybe I made that one up? LOL
@@MoDXtraGC Yeah, it was kind of fun to open up at the same time. I need to keep going on the comics. I'm like 30 or 40 issues in, still getting to know Tomax, Xamot, Flint and Lady Jaye
Great review mate! He looks great… the articulation is a a bit different.. But the old guy isn’t a man of “Action”. He can hold a rifle.. bark some orders.. maybe knock out a cobra trooper / infantry..The figure suits his duty!
Hey Flaffel - how's it going dude? 100% on your comments there. That's why I think he needs something like a radio. It's fine, I'll repurpose one (Rock n' Roll's probably - I keep knocking it off his belt anyway!)
My General Hawks hands are the same too. I agree I think that this figure lacks the Butterfly movement because it would obscure his detailed leather jacket. So in you oppinion General Hawk has huge baggy of recreational products in his footlocker 😂😂😂😂 Hopefully not😅
I'm not fond of the shotgun or that grenade launcher Hawk came with. I would have been just as happy to get that cartoonish rifle that Grunt came with.
I didn't notice the hand, I'll definitely have to look at mine. Over all im happy with it.

I think he could have used a walkie-talkie and a pointing finger. Giving orders directing the troops. Still a very cool figure though!

He grew up in the 60s ;)

Yeah - it seems like an odd choice. The classic cartoon rifle would def have been a better option, I agree.
