Just about to start my own Hyte Y60 build. I can only echo what other have said: this is one of the best technical communication / tutorial / instruction videos for computer installations I’ve ever seen. Your attention to detail and clear, un-rushed presentation style is extremely effective and non-intimidating for people of all experience levels. Great stuff and really looking forward to my own build now. Thank you!
Wow, awesome my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Your kind words really do mean a ton me, a great way to start the day. I will have to saw, I did do one thing backward, I didn't think this part out more carefully, but thankfully we connected so I can let you know. The fans on the liquid cooling unit, make sure they are blowing into the case, not sucking out. The case needs cooling, the fans on the top on the bottom and rear are not enough to help cool the gpu, so I highly recommend to flip the fans.. It is always my pleasure my friend, if you don't mind me asking, what are your components?
I have been in IT for 37 years (Apple II days), and building computers for 30 years. This video is the most in depth I’ve seen. I think people who are intimidated by the process, should definitely watch it. Good job.

so, the way I put the fans for the liquid cooling unit, you should reverse since the video card in this case gets real hot, have the fans sucking air in, I should have done that. There is a chance you will need to keep the side panel off when you play, the temps got to 88 QUICK, i didn't let them get higher but of course they can. Great videos ThisBytesForYou ! Thanks ! But if I could say, and I hope you don't mind me saying so, Sir, the best placement for an AIO water/liquid cooler CPU pump attachment should be with as much of the pipeworks above the pump. There will be a little air in the radiator system, and if that air is allowed to rise up to the pump which is attached to the CPU, it will hinder the pump working properly. The pump is usually designed in an AIO liquid cooler to work best with water resistance. Having a little air in the pump will cause the pump to work against no resistance, and it will probably become noisy and shorten the life of the pump. I still admire you for your skill and bravery, Sir, in just getting on with building your own PC - something I'm still trying to learn about before taking the leap ! Keep on keeping on, Sir ! All the best to you ! 🙂
Thanks, but you understood that incorrectly, the best place for the radiator is inline or below the pump, as the pump will be able to push the bubbles out, the hoses at the top of the radiator can do much. Thanks for my bravery, I swear, doing this for over 20 years while at Alienware as product Development, then later Dell when they bought us and Velocity Micro you would think I would have learned something before right? The pump being lower than the tubes causes bubbles to gather, making the pump work harder because there is nothing to push so it works harder to get that liquid, with the hoses at the bottom, the bubbles will go to the top of the radiator which doesn't mater at all since nothing happens there. Usually, it doesn't get installed this way because the hoses are too short, but not in this case. Hopefully something you'll learn from my bravery teehee, being a new builder and all over here what does little old me know. All the best to you too. 🙂

The build was nice, though I should have reveresed the airflow on the radiator, instead of fans sucking air out, they should have sucked in. They still need a little more space between the glass and the card, but lets see what Y40 does, its in the queue
Hi, great video. Did your case originally come with 3 LED fans (rear and where your AIO is now) and you changed the rear fan to non LED? Also do you feel the AIO does a better job of cooling when it's on the side vs at the top? Thanks!
Thanks bud, this video can answer all of your questions: th-cam.com/video/OhkzeyfwKX8/w-d-xo.html. As for the side vs the top, the top will take a larger one, BUT I prefer the look of seeing the RGB and all on the side. A few things have come up, so I could not get the BIOS flashing and windows install and such video done, but I will get back to it soon I hope.
@@ThisBytesForYou Watched the video and got my answer. Mine came with three LED fans with each having a 6 pin connector. A fan adapter was also included in the parts box. I am not a fan of RGB because it seems too distracting so I plan to go with an AIO at the top and plan to remove the 3 RGB fans. Thanks again for the great videos.
WHAT, that is insane, I would have preferred the RGB fans, maybe not so much for myself but for my viewers, but just know you can disable the RGB and always a pleasure my friend.
Sadly, Lian Li has never reached back out to me on any sort of reviewing opportunity, though I reached out to them when I was newer, I will reach out to them once I am a little more above water without a backlog.
Excellent tutorial - well filmed, very clear and informative. One piece of speaking advice: I have found in my writing my brain will fixate on one particular word or phrase and keep repeating it without my noticing until later when I edit. I notice you have a verbal tic where you use the phrase "go ahead" or "went ahead" very frequently. Not a horrible thing by any means, but you might want to listen for yourself and perhaps watch for it in the future to minimize the repetition.
Thanks bud, I do appreciate it... actually, I have MANY more hahah, I just edit them out, my big one is "OK" and one other, can't think of it no... I didn't realize go ahead and went ahead, uggg, now another one hahah, thank you, I will look out for that.
thanks bud, I have a huge work load unfortunately that I am trying to work through so I have not been able to get to testing in this, but I have heard 1 person tell me that his 3080ti overheated in this case, but of course, you never know how good or bad someone's knowledge level is, ambient temperature and so many other aspects. I assume it should be, I would saw with some side air pumping in as well.
hi, lovely guide. im planning to build my first pc entry/mid level with this case in mind. but most build i saw are just high end specs obviously. so i wonder if it would look ok if a dual fan gpu would look great in this large case? if not please recommend some with triple fan. sorry if this question kinda sounds dumb lol
Yes, it will look great, but actually, I dont recommend this case. The way I built it, also, I messed up on the side fans, I should have had it blowing in, it would have been cooler, since I don't overclock. The case is really nice, yes, but you may be a little limited when upgrading.
Nice build, I'm about to build my 2nd pc. Using a lian LI 011 xl case with the sl120 fans and an Asus z690e wifi MB with Corsair dominator ddr5 5200mhz ram and a 12900k and a ftw3 3080 ti. I have an nzxt kraken Z73 360 aio, do you think this aio will cool the 12900k cpu fine?? I have read others using the z73 with good results so it leads me to believe it will work well. Great build, thanks for sharing.
well, I can't truthfully say, since I have never reviewed it, but it should be good, the 360's are the best in my opinion. I would have used a 360 here, but I prefer it on the side, I feel like it looks so much nicer on the side. Just wait till next weeks video when you see this in action.
Thinking of changing to this case but is it really fine to mount a triple slot 3080 strix in this case? GN advised against this because clearance issues but I really like this case.
Clearance issues and the fact that the card will run soooooooooooooo hot, virtually mounted GPU's are starved for air since they are so close to the glass.
WEll, you could buy a 360, which I would recommend, to go at the top from my Amazon Affilaite: geni.us/acJwlQ that I used in this video on the Y40: th-cam.com/video/fLwNQv7Ja-g/w-d-xo.html
Your AIO CPU cooler is blowing air out or in? I am doing a HYTE build right now, and the AIO is kind of confusing with regards to airflow. I planned to use the side to pull air in and top fans to blow it out.
I had it exhausting, sadly this case doesn't do so well in airflow I have recently found, and actually have heard from others, my gpu is usually 81°C, thats way too high, but that was with the fans exhausting on the liquids cooling unit. I highly recommend putting the AIO on the top and having fans on the side blowing air in.
Looking forward to seeing this finished. I’d like to build something with close to the same components but with either a amd 6900xt or a 3070 ti-I just don’t want to spend what a 3080 ti cost. I’m going into a lg ultragear 32” @165hz. Just wondering what I can expect performance wise from either of those graphic cards? Am I going to have too much for my monitor? Total noob so I need some help
still fixing issues daily with people with AMD, so I would kind of hate to stear you the wrong way, but as long as you have newer hardware you should be OK and make sure to use HDMI 2.1 cables or DP 1.4 cables, always use the latest standard cable. 165hz, thats a nice monitor, I would recommend the 3080ti though. 6900Xt should be on par with the 3080, match it, beat it and sometimes get beat by it but with newer cards coming out in september, it might be wise to wait a little longer, it will also allow you to save even more money and get a better card.
@@ThisBytesForYou This will be my first pc and I just don’t want to make the wrong choice and that’s why I was leaning more towards a 3070 ti knowing that I could upgrade eventually to maybe even a 3090 when newer cards come out.
@@ThisBytesForYou Also do you have a case you like that makes managing cables easier? I really love the aquarium look of the hyte 60 and the similar Lian Li cases but I also want something that makes it easier to build with plenty of space.
@@Chill-Im-OldAF This case for sure, wait for my video on Monday where I do the cable management. I don't do everything in 1 video because it would make the video 2 hours long, who would watch that. that case looks very nice! i have always wanted to set my 3080TI like the one youu have verticaly but i am afraid that i will sofocate it . i do have the same gpu and the same case you have in the background the corsair 5000D airflow, once again . amazing video !!

Hey I finish the build a few weeks ago, it looks beautiful lol. Would love to show it to you, do you have a way for me to send you pictures of the build ? And Thanks for all your help!
did you manage to get that 3080 working with the riser and pcie gen 4? i got this case and either the riser is faulty or that card simply doesn’t seat properly, because it refuses to work for me. i need to try setting the slot to gen 3 but that entirely defeats the purpose of a gen 4 riser.
No ,not yet, since I bought the case, it has to take a back seat to things companies send me, but I will get back to this. I am assuming your cable is bad, or maybe improperly seated in the PCIE slots, and of course the video card, be sure to check both ends, the way you seat it in this case is very awkward. I will get back to it, but it will take me some time. Also, its a Gen4 cable, you should not need to touch Gen3.
OK cool, so that is a full height card, it is the same height as most other cards, some full height cards bring a plate to allow you to switch it up to a half height, not in this cards case though. Here is an example of a Half Height or/aka Low Profile with a full height plate www.amazon.com/Sinefine-Delivery-Charging-Expansion-Profile/dp/B0D75NHHWX I hope that helps, just in case that is not a thunderbolt card, just an example. Actually I am not seeing low profile thunderbolt adapters on Amazon
I can't say, not sure what card that is, Google searching asus 1900x wifi card brings up nothing.... Behind the board.., where would the card connect and what's up with the attitude?

Please confirm with me that the copper plate is suppose to make contact with CPU along with paste because I'm looking now that it has a noticeable gap with no contact of CPU with Copper plating of the cooler. Is this normal?
yes, 100% the copper needs to make contact with the cpu, the only way it will cool it. What is your motherboard manufacturer and model number and your liquid cooling manufacturer and model number?
@@ThisBytesForYou yeah... mine is not making contact at all. It has about an inch or so gap. I contacted Arcticz a couple days ago about this issue and learned they need to ship me a backplate for the AM4 which is not included in my box. They're hardware includes hardware for Intel with their backplate, but includes hardware for AM4, but no backplate. If that makes sense. Should be arriving by today so I can use the smaller standoffs than the plastic spacers and hope it does touch with no gaps....
ahhh that makes sense, but I do go over that in this video, I should have confirmed if you watched this video as that would have helped you. Regardless, happy Arctic could help.
@@ThisBytesForYou actually mounting the radiator lower than the pump will trap air in the outlets of the radiator reducing its lifespace, mounting the radiator higher than the pump will allow the air to travel better leading to better performance.
@@MaySpitfire close, but no, this was actually confirmed by Arctic (a conversation I had with them) and Jay from Jayz2Cents. Bubble will get stuck the top of the radiator, which is higher than the pump, bubbles go up, the inlets and outlets are at the bottom of the radiator. This is the best way to install it.
So I have a audio card and it won’t fit into the case pc it has a full sized pcie cover while the case only has a half size one under the “expansion” portion of the case idk what to do now
I just want to ask you a question. Aren't the rad lines suppose to be higher then the cooler block lines. So that your AIO pump doesn't mess up down the road.
they should be level or lower, not higher regardless on that, I was a product development engineer for Alienware, then years later Dell, after they bought us and Velocity Micro, we worked hand in hand with all these AIO vendors, and they never mentioned level or lower, it all became something when Steve mentioned it, and still with that, little to no failures or high noises. mind you, like with anything man makes, issues happen, but no mass exctinctions of liquid cooling units,, but anyway, level or below and you are good. In case you doubt me, cuz who am I right, you can check out the preparation document on Arctic sites for this and all AIO's: support.arctic.de/lf2-280-argbr2
oh and that rules goes out the door if the unit is above the pump completely, like on the top of the case. The "issue" was that it made the pump fail, or causes noises, never happened to me in over 20+ years, and i have laterally worked with thousands.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, that's great to know now. I saw some video's about this so called bad way to have your cooler setup. Now I know for my first PC build. @@smokethatgameb9937 no worries my friend, you either saw Jay's video or Steve, or any of the copy cats. Steve's video was distorted because people didn't watch all of the video, and all of the videos, they only watched to the portion where they could roam around the internet, without any knowledge and tell everyone they are wrong, they are absolutely wrong, even though the minions had no idea of what they were talking about, or ever experienced it. Jay cleared it up some, but still people will only see/hear what they want. It is best to have it level or below, unless the unit is at the top of the case, Steve and Jays videos are not wrong, but its not an issue that will appear in a week, month year, maybe not even within the 3 to 5 years of warranty Arctic has, maybe even beyond it, regardless, most peopel won't keep the unit for long anyway, since sockets change often.

Anyway, I love this box so far, and the rest of the components are above average quality. This Hyte Y60 case is just gorgeous, and now...I head into the sublime bliss of installing all my sheeyat, and transfering my Steam Library from another SSD (which is how I found you -- the SSD install hahah). Thanks again for the help, and stand by for a "Coffee" from me. Cheers Brudda!~~~@@ThisBytesForYou
Thanks so much for your kind words and support my friend, it means the world to me, and you can see all the components in the description and most of them in the youtube link thing, i think I have to make sure i set it and thanks so much for the coffee, it means the world to me, since i am small, i have to buy everything so i am working hard to get a super and build a newer system for you guys. Thanks agian my friend.
You 100% forgot the screw on the m.2 ssd. The heat sink isn't what holds it down. The screw at the end of it where the " u" shaped notch is needs to be unscrew, the m.2 SSD pushed down flat and the screw put back. Then the heat sink on top
So, I stated in the video, to screw it down, then I panned away and wouldn't you know it, it was held down.... the thermal pad kept it held down, and the heatsink screwed in held it down. I did not have a screw, it was on order since I had lost it so no, I didn't forget, I've done thousands of them, if you want a video on how to install it, you can watch this one: th-cam.com/video/eoFyW5QVunA/w-d-xo.html I had the screw so I installed it with the screw and the u and everything. I didn't include the heatsink, since not every SSD comes with one, the one on most boards in perfect, like this system and not all M.2 slots have a screw, many have the plastic latch, like I show you in this video: th-cam.com/video/ymmxN141cxI/w-d-xo.html That work for you?
Not a stupid question at all, and no, I dont think it will at all, it's rare for games to get to 16, not including RTX maybe, 12, you are getting close, 10 even closer, but you will hit the wall many times, IF you are using RTX, maybe at 4K with all the eye candy, at 2K you would be fine.

Dont you want the radiator of the cooler to be above the pump so that air doesn't get trapped in your pump? When you install the radiator tubes down, any air that enters the loop will settle in your pump which could damage the pump on the cooler.
this is one method that is correct, the other correct one would be with the radiator up at the top. What you don't want is the tubes facing the top, and above the pump, they have to be either aligned or below, never above.
yeah, there are plenty pros and cons to this case. Mind you, there are external capture cards (which I prefer because I can record BIOS' and from consoles, but I do reviews, I kind of need that, you may not) but no a days, most everything is built onto the motherboard, so they figured they could get away with it, or use low profile cards, what kind of capture card do you have?
Actually, its the best, because the gravity will push the water down and when it comes back up, it will suck up bubbles instead of water, causing better, cooling, less noise, and longevity of the unit. Now, if you place the radiator at the same level as the pump, it would work perfectly as well, and of course at the top but the way this case is, the hoses would be above the pump and could cause more noise, less cooling performance and lower the longevity of the unit. Actually, I did do something wrong in this build though, I have it pumping air out, which in all other cases would be the best scenario, but in this case, this is the only airflow from the front, which has the coolest air, so it would need air coming in. This case has fans on the bottom, but they are VERY low flow fans, and are not enough for the video card, vertically mounted video cards get hotter since the fans are so close to the glass, causing the fans to spin faster to make up for the lower amount of air and higher pressure. Hoses at the bottom are best and of course at the top of the case (the ceiling of the case), BUT not every case will work that way because of video cards, hose lengths and other potential factors.
And yet it still works perfectly fine all the motherboards I have done this too, literally thousands as a product development engineer for Alienware, Dell and velocity micro, and all worked perfect, funny ain't it

Thank you!

Good job.

Thanks, though a lot of bobbing and weaving to get into the good comments haha, I don't have the budget or man power LTT/GN/J2C have but I push ahead with what I can, thanks so much for catching that, I do appreciate it always working hard to improve.
I'm so glad I found a video with a case I want to get, I got a Evga 3080ti for my birthday, I was concerned at 1st about using the 3080ti on this case but with you're video I'm fully convinced I can build my new pc thank you for this video. Imma sub now
so, the way I put the fans for the liquid cooling unit, you should reverse since the video card in this case gets real hot, have the fans sucking air in, I should have done that. There is a chance you will need to keep the side panel off when you play, the temps got to 88 QUICK, i didn't let them get higher but of course they can. As a reviewer I have to quickly review products people send me to review, since this was something I bought, I had to quickly cycle out of it, I hope to get back to it soon but I hope I have helped you and thanks so much for your support, it means the world to me.

thanks bud, and it really is an awesome build too, the case is amazing.
Now that you've built in it, what are your thoughts after 9 months, what was your favorite case to build in and where does this rank?

Nice build, you think the bottom airflow is sufficient? Im going with a 6950xt in mine. So i am definitely putting in 2x 140mm's.
thanks bud, I have a huge work load unfortunately that I am trying to work through so I have not been able to get to testing in this, but I have heard 1 person tell me that his 3080ti overheated in this case, but of course, you never know how good or bad someone's knowledge level is, ambient temperature and so many other aspects.
Thanks for be the best i love your videos
Thank you so much for your kind words my friend, they mean the world to me and I am so very happy you enjoyed this video.
@@ThisBytesForYou that a no?
@@HauNguyen-bo8zu I thought my warning explained no, but that is a big no recommendation. Not to say that it wont work, but I don't recommend it.
I’m trying to build this but unfortunate the liquid cooler is out of stock.. can you suggest alternate cooler..
WEll, you could buy a 360, which I would recommend, to go at the top from my Amazon Affilaite: geni.us/acJwlQ that I used in this video on the Y40: th-cam.com/video/fLwNQv7Ja-g/w-d-xo.html
I have a question! Was that a 1TB SSD on top of the Blue SATA SSD and is that required or just added storage?
no, you only need 1 drive, mechanical or SSD, just one drive (though I recommend an M.2 SSD over a regular SSD or mechanical drive)
Another question: You are able to have the radiator tubes at the bottom due to where the pump resides? Thanks!
you can see it in the screenshot and in the video, for sure.

Yup
did you manage to get that 3080 working with the riser and pcie gen 4? i got this case and either the riser is faulty or that card simply doesn’t seat properly, because it refuses to work for me. i need to try setting the slot to gen 3 but that entirely defeats the purpose of a gen 4 riser.

I didn't include the heatsink, since not every SSD comes with one, the one on most boards in perfect, like this system and not all M.2 slots have a screw, many have the plastic latch, like I show you in this video: th-cam.com/video/ymmxN141cxI/w-d-xo.html
That work for you?
This may be a stupid question but will a 3080 Ti Ultra 10GB ruin this whole build?
Not a stupid question at all, and no, I dont think it will at all, it's rare for games to get to 16, not including RTX maybe, 12, you are getting close, 10 even closer, but you will hit the wall many times, IF you are using RTX, maybe at 4K with all the eye candy, at 2K you would be fine.

Dont you want the radiator of the cooler to be above the pump so that air doesn't get trapped in your pump? When you install the radiator tubes down, any air that enters the loop will settle in your pump which could damage the pump on the cooler.
your thinking of it backwards, the air would get trapped in the radiator, not the pump, if the radiator had the air/bubbles, the pump would too
this is one method that is correct, the other correct one would be with the radiator up at the top. What you don't want is the tubes facing the top, and above the pump, they have to be either aligned or below, never above.
@@ThisBytesForYou you want the pump to be below the tubes or radiator. Air rises.

I explained in previous videos, where I took off the film, this one didn't have it, since I removed it on previous videos
What's a deal breaker is the fact that there is no space for a capture card to go
yeah, there are plenty pros and cons to this case. Mind you, there are external capture cards (which I prefer because I can record BIOS' and from consoles, but I do reviews, I kind of need that, you may not) but no a days, most everything is built onto the motherboard, so they figured they could get away with it, or use low profile cards, what kind of capture card do you have?
Why did you put the radiator hoses on the bottom? I understand that’s the WORST thing to do!
Tubes on the AIO shouldn’t be lower than the CPU
You are incorrect, they shouldn't be higher
Your 3080ti seem to fit right in. Mine isn’t.
