Amazing game to watch. So much back and forth, both teams left it all on the ice. When Aho hit that shot with 6 seconds left in OT I think I woke up the neighborhood...
Can't say I agree on the second Canes goal being a weak goal to give up. It was a clear set play that the Canes used when Edmonton was changing, with Robinson (#50) threading the needle between the defenseman and Skinner to hit a streaking Necas on the back door. I didn't really think there was much Skinner could do, it was just a perfectly executed play by Carolina.
I don't blame him on that either, but.. their are goalies who would have simply used their stick to deflect the puck before it had gotten to the shooter. Skinners best game this year, but Anderson was better imo.
@50mattman How was it not a defensive breakdown? Play started as a 2-on-2. With 2 oiler backcheckers being next into the defensive zone. Necas drove straight to the net untouched, and both Oiler D were caught watching the puck. Skinner was positioned well, playing the shot. The pass was at least a foot outside Skinner's reach, way off the net. Perfect pass and tap in for Carolina.
Right after Skinner made that Hasekesk save an Edmonton player actually had the puck and the opportunity to skate out from behind the net and clear the puck. Instead he feebly shoved the puck around the boards directly to a Carolina player while falling.
