  • What was the Civil Rights Movement?
    Introduction by President Audrey Bilger.
The title of this lecture implies that the civil rights movement is a thing of the past. Pancho Savery, professor of English and humanities, problematizes the idea that the Civil Rights Movement was finite by articulating the movement's extensive roots, and gesturing toward the many ways in which it is ongoing.
After the lecture, audience members were invited to ask questions.
This lecture took place on 6/12/21 as a part of the Reed Reunions 2021 program.

Unnecessary. That is what the 'civil rights' movement and legislation were and are.
