This is no lie, but this is the best Splinter in all of TMNT media (excluding Comics). In the '80s Splinter was more of a wise mentor figure than a father figure. I don't even recall him calling them his sons throughout the cartoon. He just calls them "Turtles" when they are in a group. But he is still a good mentor. Giving advise and helping them with the turtles personal problems. The original trilogy did very well by mixing in the father role with the mentor role. This is close second favorite version of Splinter. I love everything from his costumes to his voice is beautifully well done (which brought me to great shock learning that the VA also plays the voice of Elmo). He is a great mentor and a really good father. Shame that he did little to nothing for him in the last two films. Especially for the last movie. The 03 Series Splinter was close to perfection in many ways. He play the mentor well. He is a good father. He certainly kick ass. The only problem I have is his voice which sounds like a mix between a wise old man and some guy with a major sore throat problem. While the voice of Mako is a perfect choice for Splinter, it carries the same problem as the third film in the original trilogy. He does absolutely nothing in the film. The only guidance is to comfort Raph, but nothing else. It is like he is a mere background character rather than a supporting character which is something Splinter should be. 2012 Splinter truly feels like a well balanced character. Not only is he strict and wise as a mentor, but he is exactly what a father is/should be. What I love about this one is that this Splinter is more of a father than a master. One problem that I do have is tbag when Splinter scolds the turtles, it isn't like a normal father rather a strict mentor that would punish you to am extreme. The original movie Splinter only had the turtles do ninja flips if they get out of line (The Secret of the Ooze). And he wasn't around them much in the first movie or third movie to punish them. And the 03 series Splinter only gives them a looks of disapproval or a smack on the head with a stick which isn't much (than again my Dad broke his wrist when he smacks me on the head which I very deserve it). But I still love that this Splinter would put his life to save his kids. Plus his life has been incredibly harsh on him. First, his clan was wiped out along with his wife and father, his sworn brother betrays him and stole his daughter on the same day, then he is turned into a giant rat. That doesn't even cover the fact that thoughout his whole decade, he just discovered that his daughter was alive and hates him cause she thought he killed her mother. Thank when he finally is reunited, he lose her again due to mutagen and how he lost his mind. And when he finally recover his human intelligence, he discover that his daughter hates him once again while being under mind control. He than lose her once more just as she was free and learn that she had gone astray with vengeance. Than when everything was finally going well... he was killed by his own adopted brother and mortal enemy. Like Damn Nick, you trying to destroy my man Yoshi like that? Can you imagine all that pain circling inside you as you raise four teenagers by yourself? Cause I would have gone seen a blind therapist. There isn't much to say about Michael Bay Splinter except that he must be excellently well skilled with reading a ninjutsu booklet in Japanese under one of United States biggest city. Yeah, I get that Michael Bay tries to change the origin story just a bit, but he fails so miserably that it's just so bad. I also don't recall anything that Splinter did in the second film except once again be a background character. Come on guys, Splinter trained and raised the turtles in ninjutsu by himself. He should never be treated like a background character in any movie. Sure you can have him speak wise words, but he should be treated more than that. Even in the first movie, he played a good supporting role by more than just beating Shredder or wise words. He was the main focus of the film and I felt like you could have done more with him. What do you want to ruin his name? *Rise*... Oh yeah. Okay, so Rise Splinter is one of those characters who started awful, but got better in the end. But it doesn't change my opinion in that he is the worst. Yes, I did have a few laughs. And yes, I did enjoy him being around. But he still isn't much of a mentor nor is he really a great father. Edited; Okay... I like to add Mutant Mayhem opinion. I really like this Splinter as a character. I mean he has a good reason to be humanphobic. He is voice by Jackie Chan and was train by him from the looks of it. And he is a okay father. Now most would complain about how he learn ninjitsu from VHS tapes. But I don't see the problem. _Didn't you complain about book Splinter?_ Yes, and that isn't gonna change. Look, every version of Splinter (besides Bay, IDW, and this one) is a rat that learn martial arts from a Japanese ninja master. These version are following comic book logic while the Bay one has many errors in the origins. Maybe I wouldn't be so keen on it, if it was done better. For example, Bay could have both Splinter and the Turtles be originally from TCRI which has a branch in Japan and that they move to New York just to get away from the Foot Clan. But... We are talking about Mutant Mayhem Splinter. Is learning from a VHS stupid? Yeah, but at least it can be logical for a comic book movie.
I still haven’t won’t forget, one night I was listening to this sitting outside and it started to rain and and the wind blew some cherry blossoms from a tree and they swirled around me. It was so cinematic
