Today we have another wonderful achievement. Boris got his permanent residence visa! We are very happy, we have been waiting for this for 2 years.
This visa would allow him to live in the Philippines indefinitely, work legally and have his own business.
At the immigration office we met his friend Igor. He has been living in the Philippines for several months. He watched our video where we bought our motorcycle, he liked it so he bought the same one. Even the pannier is the same. We said goodbye to Igor and went to one of our favorite cafes for lunch. Boris loves their tamarind soup. On our way home, we stopped in Tagum City to buy some groceries and a machete. Boris and I need them for the farm. The market is big but it was so hard to find a shop that sells machetes. Boris asked some locals and they pointed him to this shop. There are several types of machetes here. We bought 3 of them. They will be very useful now that we have our farm. This iron caught our attention, it is so cute. Boris was so happy to find these old things. We left with a smile on our faces. Today is such a beautiful day!

A Filipino permanent resident is like a US green card. Not a citizenship

Darlene , maybe you should start teaching him Tagalog…start slow with with short conversational phrase, “Kamusta ka ? “Anong ginagawa mo ?”, “ Lakad na tayo “ “Nasaan ka na ? “ Magandang umaga “…repetition is the key … he can use those everyday . Boris is very smart and you are a good teacher…. good luck !

Congratulations on your permanent residence visa Boris that's great. I didn't realize you and Darlene lived in Tagum. There is a channel I watch all the time with a couple that live very close to you right outside of Tagum the channel is American Philippines Destiny . They are just finishing up on adding onto their house. You should really get in touch with them especially when you get ready to build on your property. They have some very very good builders and carpenters that are great guys and very honest and do extremely good work. I think you both would be very happy if you had them build you anything. You must be excited to live in your property in Surigao...keep dreaming and accomplishing. I hope your mom can visit you this year now that you have your own home.
I wish you bought that iron... someday it's going to be a collector's item as it's becoming rare. The price of the machetes is reasonable. I live in Negros Oriental and here it's higher in price. Don't forget to get a sharpening stone.
