2:20 Hook: "😈She was leaving you, Pan!" Peter: 🤨 Hook: "😈Your Wendy... was leaving you. " Peter: 🥺 Hook: "😈Why should she stay? What have you to offer? You're... incomplete! She'd rather grow up than stay with you!" *Hook smacks Peter, sending him flying back against the mast* Hook: "😈Let us now take a peep into the future! What's this I see? 'Tis the fair Wendy! She's in her nursery, the window is shut!" Peter: "😤I'LL OPEN IT!!" Hook: "😈I'm afraid the window is barred!" Peter: "🥺I'll call out her name!" Hook: "😈She can't hear you." Peter: "😢No!" Hook: "😈She can't *see* you!" Peter: "😭Wendy!!" Hook: "She's *forgotten* all about you!" Peter: "😤STOP! PLEASE, STOP IT!!" *Hook kicks Peter through the sail* Hook: "😈Oh, what is this I see? There is another in your place. He is called... *husband!* "
Ok, real talk here. I remember when I first saw this movie, I was 13 years old and already developing an obsession with all things romance (which has never faded). At the scene when Hook starts messing with Peter's mind, the whole "She was leaving you, Pan!" moment, I can remember feeling utterly heartsick. Like, my throat seized up, my heart raced, it was like I felt the horrible dread Peter was experiencing. After we bought the DVD, and I watched it a million times over, I lost that feeling. I felt kind of sad about that, because it just made the joy and the relief of their adorable kiss scene that much sweeter. ... Today, I am 30 years old, listening to this soundtrack for the first time in years, and I got that feeling back. My coworkers are debating on whether they should call a nurse or the men in white coats. And I'm just in angsty bliss, happy to know that I can steel feel this way. Kind of emo, but hey, it's the truth.
And the saddest part for me is that Hook is telling the truth. Wendy was leaving because she realized that she needed to grow up, she can't stay a child forever. And eventually when she grows up, she will find a husband. But I agree that it made the kiss so much sweeter. The movie's ending felt very bitter-sweet.
When I was like three or four I was pretty much obsessed with the Peter Pan story (to the point where I kinda cringe thinking back on it xD). I saw this one after I'd seen the Disney movie, so seeing Hook not only figure out flying but proceeding to just _destroy_ Peter emotionally was a huge shock moment for me way back when.
I cry every time he says that. To be honest, I'm not sure if Peter knows what husband means, but I think he knows that it is someone who will replace him forever. Am I right? I get so sad because all the adventures he's gone on with Wendy, and for nothing because she will forget him and be with another... *crys for hours
*Peter, grimacing, desperately tries to attack and fend off Hook, but Hook parries and raises his sword over his head* Hook: "👿😡RRAAAAGH!!" *Hook attacks Peter, who blocks the sword with his own, but cannot stay afloat from the heartache, landing face first on the deck*
1:24 - 1:46 *Hook grabs Tinkerbell, showering his face in pixie dust, as he lifts off the deck, floating up to the sail riggings towards Peter* Hook: "😡👿 RRAAAAAGH!! 😈IT'S HOOK! HE FLIES!!" *Peter fends off Hook's sword thrust, but Hook kicks Peter against the sail, before tossing his sword in the air, catching it again* Hook: "😈And *he likes it!* "
OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I been trying to find this soundtrack for about 2 years wow. This is my favorite childhood movie and I still watch it never gets old thanks man this means a lot.
