*I love it **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I’m using it for my 1.0 Crankbaits and small Jerkbait. Paired with my Assassin. Works great, feels great. Would definitely recommend this setup.*
ill confirm this works for walleye but also other species as well especially white and yellow perch. Use a deeper diving jerkbait and troll at a slow to moderate speed.
Jason or anyone who knows the Devils Lake area. I turn 30 May 15th and I am going to make the trip from Fargo to Devils Lake for some fishing on my birthday. I don't have a boat and was wondering what some good spots to cast from shore are. also, what can I expect to be biting in mid May at Devils Lake? thanks.
Channel A and Mauvais Coulee along old Hwy 81 are both good. Should be a good time of year where anglers will still catch a lot of fish from shore. Cast jigs and soft plastic paddle tails like the Sizmic Shad. The bridges and culverts are often really good because of the current but the fish will often be laying along the rip rap. Good luck and have a great birthday!
also, for shore fishing, call ahead and reserve a spot because it will be full of non residents going over on their limits. chamber of commerce loves them.
Yes in many cases we are running them ten to fifteen feet behind a planer board and running the lure five feet down versus running a shallow running bait further behind the boat at the same depth.
We were only running 10-15 feet back on this episode with these particular deep divers. The Precision Trolling App is pretty useful as it has the dive curves for a lot of the lures. You can also guess in shallow water and get pretty close.
We were running through a handful of different colors of the Salmo Bullhead SDR. We were getting bit off by pike and unfortunately only had one of the Nordic Perch but that was the best color that day but I didn't have enough of them. We caught fish on Hot Perch, Pink Tiger, Nordic Perch and Purple Passion.
Thank you for the reply I'm kinda new to the trolling game and been going thru the precision trolling books/app. Any advise far as the books/app goes? On your show you just kinda reel em in. What makes you fish where you do vs knowing how deep your running your lures? Thanks.
the Precision Trolling App is a great starting point. Pick the location and than determine what lure you are going to use and how far back to run the lure. I like to start out a foot or so off the bottom and than work my way higher.

Nice J-Mitch!
Target Walleye
What equipment- rod, reel, line etc?
Thanks
Running the 8’6” JM Telescoping Trolling Rods paired with the Scheels Outfitters Coldwater SX line counter spooled with ten pound Fireline.
The walleye caught at seven minutes into the video- was that on a Salmo bullhead, if so what color is that ?
-Looks like Rapala Yellow Perch color
Yes, Salmo Bullhead in Nordic Perch, a SCHEELS Exclusive color.
Great!- thanks for the reply
Jason, what line are you using on your bait casters for walleyes?
A lot of ten pound Fireline
Ask when you say that you are running deep divers but with small amount of line out, does that make the diver run shallow?
Yes in many cases we are running them ten to fifteen feet behind a planer board and running the lure five feet down versus running a shallow running bait further behind the boat at the same depth.
Jason how do you know how much line to run back from the planer?

Were can I buy the SALMO bullhead SDR 1-6 ft Perch color?
SCHEELS has a good supply
Thanks
Looks like three different lures? Curious what they all were besides the bullhead

And is 2mph ur typical trolling speed or do you switch it up?
We speed up and slowed down as we zig zagged but 2 mph was the norm.
