No one could ever put the bittersweet beauty and heartwrenching of this performance. Every mother should aspire to be like Lyra. Unfortunately my family is just cold enough to make me want to Run away but just caring enough that it wouldn't be worth it. Besides, it's too dangerous of a world out there. I think. I hope. I hope and don't hope. It's hard to explain. I hope because it means it would be too risky to run away so I won't regret not doing it, but I also hope not because it would mean that I could run away and find a new family, or a least a new momma. My mother never called me things like "baby" "honey" "sweetheart" or any of those endearing things. We never did cute things together. My parents were always fighting and divorced when I was nine. I haven't had a real friend in 12 years. All I ever wanted was a mommy. Not a mother, a mommy. I just wanted to be a bright-eyed, big smiled kid who came home from school everyday and hug his mommy who strokes his hair and tells him that everything is going to be alright because everyone is bullying him and and never raises her voice at him and lets him run and play as long as he wants and go for bike rides with friends even though they've seen his favorite movie a thousand times, they still watch it together because he doesn't know any better and she just wants to make happy, is that such a fucking demand!? Really sweet. Unfortunately, there are a lot of kids who need help getting out of an abusive/crisis situation. Most major cities have a charity that helps kids like this in need. If you are able, think about finding an organization in your city that helps kids in crisis and ask them how you can help and ask your parents to donate to them. Those kids are our future.
