I really do love Dupe the Vibe videos and even build your own palette videos(though not as much), but I like to see the process of choosing the shades rather than the already made dupe! That way I hear the philosophy behind the choices you made and the color story you chose to put together. It’s more about how you interpret the palette and I love to see that process.
Ah! I am so sorry you are wheezing! I have asthma and that is such an awful feeling. The Harvest Moon greens have me (Disiduous!!) 😮😮 I like your palette better! I love BYOP/ dupe videos! I am always impressed that people can create prettier palettes with what they have or even just straight dupe it! I have a bunch of singles and I want to start creating more of my own palettes because I rarely ever use them😅 I think it’s great to give yourself the option to buy three to four palettes a month. You will not be denying yourself and can also use what you have. I loved both eye looks so much! I thought for sure I would have preferred the green one since it is my favorite color but the second eye look has me 😮! The silver/neutral look is beautiful and the red liner and lip are perfect! I wanted the eye shadow palette but was gonna wait until like Black Friday but I saw that it was limited edition so I didn’t even try to get it. I do think it’s crazy that apparently ColourPop didn’t out a limit on how many people could purchase-that caused scalpers to go crazy and now some palettes are going for over $100 I read. Lol, no. I enjoyed this video💃🏿
I wish more would have this mentality. I hate the rushing to get content up so much. But, I also wish more people would value us for taking more time and give us the views.
Totally agree!! Like I’m not trying to spend all of my time on something that’s going to get minimal views! It’s not worth it as much as I want to do it 😭
Okay, I loved the first look, but the SECOND?! So cool! I am not a fan of Twilight (not a hater, either), so even though I like the color story, I don't have the impetus to pick up any of the pieces. I'm becoming obsessed with BYOP videos, though! The second look is going to live rent free in my head for a while. 😍
I just like watching people put on makeup. (especially eyeshadow, blush/highlighter, and lip - the fun, colorful stuff! 😊) Any content that has that is what I enjoy most, so new/old doesn’t matter to me. Although, of course, I love when it’s a palette I have/bought/want the most. I wanted the Twilight palette, and the highlighters and red lip oil, but mainly because of the color story/products rather than because it was Twilight. (plus, the palette was vegan!) I was in a meeting that went a few minutes over, so when I opened the site at 12:05, it was gone. And yeah, I was unprepared for the sneak drop and missed Ulta too. Fingers crossed for the restock! Your palette and the other BYOPs I’ve seen are beautiful! Indie shadows are always just so impressive, although I don’t mind more affordable/drugstore eyeshadows as long as the quality is good, even if they can’t actually compare.
I GUARANTEE YOU your quality here surpassed Colour Pop by leaps and bounds. I’m sooooo sick of the new new shoved down my throat. So glad you did this.
I totally agree with your take on the hyperconsumerist nature of the beauty industry. It's tough to tell how much of it I actually want vs how much I'm being influenced (a lot of times by people who get the products for free 😅).
I like this idea! I think it would be cool to see you dupe the vibes or recreate/reimagine a look that you’ve seen that inspires you (could be promotional photos for something new) or an instagram artist or a colorful celebrity look that you admire.
@@katiecurtin8149 hahaha sorry!! I’ll probably show that look in a makeup diaries whenever I get around to doing it but that is a good idea for another kind of video 😊
I LOVE the second look. Creative and impressively-executed. Well done! My problem with the ColourPop palette, which I otherwise loved the look and color story of, was their continued use of the Pearlescent Glitter formula. A lot of people don't seem to realize that it is real/traditional plastic glitter (or at least the 2023 formula was. Curiously, the site doesn't list ingredients for the Twilight palette...🤨 ) The improvements CP made were only to the formula/texture of the shadow as a whole. So, while the Pearlescent shades go on much more smoothly than CP's older pressed glitters, they still contain shards of plastic. I just can't accept plastic glitter, if "only" for eye safety reasons. For those who haven't had glitter in their eye, count yourselves lucky and for those who have and escaped, you're the luckiest ones. Real glitter's not great for the environment, either, I've read, but my first concern is my eyes. So, aligned with the other theme of your video here: CP using plastic glitters in some of my favorite colored shades has actually spared me from purchasing at least ten palettes I can think of, off the top of my head, including Twilight and the brand new Valentine's Day 2024 palette. So...I guess this is good news for someone who needs the threat of scratched retinas or corneas to curb her self-indulgence.
I will be totally honest… I follow nothing with colourpop so I hadn’t heard any of this! I haven’t bought a CP palette in at least 2 years but possibly more? I didnt know they even had that kind of a formula so thanks for sharing the info!
@@Katelynhousemakeup sure! Lots of people took looooong breaks from ColourPop because of their turbo release schedule, but they weirdly and abruptly pulled way back on new releases in the second half of 2023. It was pretty surprising. I remember the Pearlescent Glitter formula only.coming out in the last 12 to 18 months, so you likely.missed it, yup.
Hi! Just started the vid and first, love the inspired BYOP concept! Next, a thought, for the palettes that are shown far enough in advance, you may consider doing a vid like this pre-launch. That may get more YT views, as well as help everyone... Anyway, I don't know how workable the idea is (some release a couple days after showing the color story, so those would totally be out for pre-launch), but thought I'd pass it on... 💚
I'm expecting my second child right now. While I was on maternity leave with my first I felt like I had endless time to be honest. I mean, I didn't, because a lot of time ended up being spent pumping because my daughter couldn't latch, but I still wanted to breastfeed somehow because I was an overproducer and I didn't want to waste that.. but I still had a decent amount of time because the first 2 weeks, the baby will sleep so so much. That said the way you use the time is going to vary. Sometimes I used their nap time to nap myself, sometimes I did makeup, sometimes I cleaned or pumped, etc. All that to say, the first little while, you will be surprised by the amount of time you have. As the baby has more and more awake time and longer wake windows, you'll start to have less time. I found that I didn't buy or do makeup by the time my daughter was 2 months old, but I absolutely scrolled through makeup news at 2 in the morning when I was feeding her or pumping. I just had no desire to buy any because I knew I didn't have the time to use it. So I knew what was being released but I wasn't consuming it. Idk. Beautiful looks - I love doing BYOPs when I want something because 1. It helps me not to buy, but also 2. Sometimes I realize a palette has shades I wouldn't want or use so I can replace those with shades I might think fit better. It's fun.
Agree that BYOPs are fun for those exact reasons! Also thank you for sharing your experience!! It’s always good to have an idea of how things could go 😊
@Katelynhousemakeup Of course!! Every experience is different, but I just felt like nobody talked about how much unexpected time you get in those first couple weeks and it surprised me when my first was born🩷
Whenever new products come out and I see every creator making content on it I don't watch. Even if I like the creator. It's annoying tbh. It breaks my heart that the smaller creators feel like if ur not first ur last. 💔 do something different it's ok! We the viewer are craving it!!❤

Ooh good to know!
I love your BYOP. This type of video is definitely I love and will watch all your videos you make like this! Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh good glad you enjoyed it!!! 🥰
BYOP is some of my favourite content. Please do more!
Yay! 🥰
I love the idea of content using your collection to either dupe the vibes or just spark some interest for what you have already!!
Me too!! I have so many things I want to use!

And yeah that’s so annoying. I hate the people that just resell it at a marked up price. So silly!!
