But it's always been clear that Albert and Michel run the show (their egos meant they split years ago - there are hilarious tv progs where the culinary genii do actually 'try' to work together)... Next gen Alain and Michel Jr are clearly brilliant, but if you stick one of them cooking with their father/uncle, they aint gonna question the older generation!
3:55 "you were a naughty boy... chef" Notice how he remembers to show his son the respect he deserves in the kitchen by addressing him by his title. Michel Roux was a very classy man. RIP
I have always been a huge fan of Michel & Albert Roux & it’s lovely to see Michel cooking with Alain. However, all of the Roux family are masters of their craft.
I can not express how delighted I was to find this video. For years, I have been discovering the joys of cooking with recipes from Albert and Michel . My guests never failed to praise the food, and I loved learning. AND NOW, to see MIchel......... It is wonderful that this family's art of cuisine is being passed on to the next generation. I was about to cook the Tresse de Saumon et Barbue au GIgembre for a special dinner, but I think I will try this instead. Salutations et Mercie Mille Fois!
It all happened here in England . We are very lucky , the impact made by this family on the British culinary scene has and continues to be imeasurable.
Thank goodness for TH-cam so we can always learn great cooking from Michel Roux, Sr. I'm sure he is greatly missed by his family as well as his fans. I hope to someday eat at Alain's table at the Waterside Inn.
Marco enters: "Albert isnt here is he?" Michel and Albert two taught Marco, and Albert was responsible for Marco's coke and booze habit in his younger days. Thats why Marco is so damned good. Also the reason why Gordon Ramsey is so good because Marco gave Gordon the same treatment. Iron sharpens iron.
lrein077 your right he’s gotten very carefree as he’s got older where as Alain is much more refined and in the Michelin star state of mind but still a joy to watch them cook together and see his respect for his farther

I love watching the Roux family cooking bcos of the love they show to the food they're cooking everytime.. Much love and respect to all of the family..
Michel is a legend! These guys can cook! But I know the feeling when you understand you're better than your father/hero. Proud...? Sad...? It seems to me that the Roux-family can enjoy extremely good food-craftsmanship no matter. I would lick the plate from anything made by such fine chefs!

@Jim The Raspberry Aside the 5 Michelin stars between them to say otherwise, Michel sr had more charisma in his left pinky finger than most in their entire being. He could tell a story and, unlike you, make it count.
When they were building it I was like "Nah, really?" But yes, the end result is simple but really well thought out and looks delicious! I'm gonna try it. 🙏
This video reminds of old cookbooks from the 50s and 60s. The "edit" because I wrote "70's" and edited after having discovered my mistake because they were more modern in the 70s.
Its the strangest thing. I can smell the basil, lemon and tomatoes while Michel is 'snipping'...I live in Houtbay; a pretty little fishing village next to Cape Town and I have access to excellent fresh Tuna. I am definitely going to make this Coulibiac with Tuna.
