I can sum it. Sterns are all around better shooting games, they cost a lot less (especially for a pro), have stronger and better feeling flippers, while JJP games are better looking and have a lot of good details. Hopefully The Matrix comes out for JJP soon and it is a good seller for them.
So just my opinion, our first big game was JJ Guns and Roses. We absolutely loved it! but it started to be a Maintenace nightmare! We now have all stern machines with the insider connected from a business standpoint it brings people in every month as our score board resets to try and be on top of the leader board. And honestly how often when you are playing are you looking at the DMD? Its more for people watching someone play. Stern just has all the right things in all the right places. And are leading the way in pinball.
Love the way Stern feel, code and game play. I have 9 Spike 2's. Can't keep a JJP because it's a great box of lights that doesn't have what I need in pinball. JJP's GNR LE was our best looking machine that didn't have one fun shot to me.
Unfortunately I've never been able to play any JJP pins. I've never been a fan of Stern's flippers which have felt generally overturned or undertuned. I've heard JJP pins have "weak flippers," but apparently have improved recently. How do JJP pins flippers perform?
They perform great for me, seems they have been improved since Elton John. Interesting to hear your take on stern flippers, don't think I've seen anyone say they don't like stern flippers lol.
I've owned 10 Sterns... And to jjp the build quality there's no comparison jjp quality is light years away from Stern.. you keep talking about prices you're buying used games.. you have The insider connect is cool but it's basically a gimmick and if that's the first thing you care about in a pinball machine you're not you're not a real pinball player.
Lmao...insider connect is something alot of people like...if you don't that cool. And price when it's this big a difference is a big deal. But I don't have time for people who try to have a conversation with " your not a real pinball player" if you don't like what i like. Lol have a good day
@@UrGamingTechie did you read what I said I never said it wasn't cool.. but you made the point that you loved it and the only reason you'd buy a game is because of it I've been collecting and working on pinballz since 1990... And when comparing a Stern pro to a next are jjp Ali there is no comparison...
@johntclunie yes i read it, you called it a gimmick lol, of which most people out there would disagree who own sterns lol. Doesn't matter how long you been collecting, opinions are opinions, plenty of people out there love stern more then jjp. Matter in fact 80 percent of the videos I've seen and Facebook groups etc, all don't like jjp and only buy stern. So again opinions. And your correct, if I like 2 pinball machines like avatar and jaws, and the gameplay is fun on both, and I like the theme on both, them yes I will sway my decision to own stern because of insider connect. It's pretty obvious and understood that I wouldn't choose a machine just because it has insider connect, but if I like 2 machines and I'm choosing 1, insider connect will sway me thay way. And that sure as hell doesn't make me less of a pinball fan lol.
The people who run Atomic pinball say they have more problems with JJP than they do their stern machines. They have EVERY JJP but the hobbit. And probably over 50 Sterns. And trust me they are real players. Lol.
Imagine thinking the internet is gimmick. Lol, it's just a fad. I'm sure it will pass. Or is that what JJP brass said when they dropped online capabilities?
Toy story shots perfectly good to me, not the same feel as a stern, which feel a bit better still. But nothing that is gonna make me choice one or the other, unlike back in the day when jjp were terrible with flippers being underpowered
Stern pins imo both feel and look like overpriced toys compared to williams / bally pins of the 80's and 90's. Even gottleib / premiere pins look absolutely beautiful in comparison to sterns plywood box with stickers and translite artwork created on a $50 home printer.
I've owned twentysome Stern games and Avatar will be the 8th JJP game I've owned to date. Each manufacturer has its strong points and I find all of their games to be fun!
IMO jjp look more impressive and have a awesome lightshow. Sterns gameplay is more addicting and shots are more balanced. For me when I play one game of jjp and I'm good and I don't want to hit that start button again.

Stern are china quality it's a cash cow for stern replacing all the faulty parts spike 2 sucks

JJP is working on there own connect system, who is far more advanced than Stern insider connect system.

I've owned both. JJP is obviously a superior machine and it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

DMD= Dot Matrix Display..... That era ended when JJP came out with their first machine. It had LCD. No new machines today has a DMD.
Yea I'm aware idk why I used dmd to describe the giant lcd on the machine but everyone knows what i mean lol
There is no comparison. Jerseyjack shit on stern in every way

What about the important thing ,the flipper feel ?? The shooting feel ,the flipper power ? I have a Williams pinball the feel is awesome 👍🏻
Toy story shots perfectly good to me, not the same feel as a stern, which feel a bit better still. But nothing that is gonna make me choice one or the other, unlike back in the day when jjp were terrible with flippers being underpowered

Stern for me, in terms of themes and just feel. Only JJP i like atm was GnR, havent tried Avatar or Elton John
