      @@legendarylife9512 Which ones would you recommend for XL size hands? I have giant hands. Also, have you ever held or used the Bark River Kephart? I'm wondering if the handle style would fit me well. Thanks.

    I hear so much about bark river doing all these different grinds and I just want to say that bark river does only one grind and that's convex, even the scandi is a convex. There is no flat grind from bark river on there knives

    Just got the gunny hunter in 3v specifically for hunting. You briefly brought it up in the vid. How did you like it for breaking down game and was it elk or deer you used it on? thanks

      It worked great for my deer. Small enough to get into tight places and held an edge great.

    Do you find the handle on the gunny to be too small or not so much? Thats my main hesitation on buying one.

      I ordered a gunny hunter about 10 months ago. Fits my hand great. But it had some serious fit and finish issues. Extremely obvious uneven grinds and flaws in the handle. I sent them pics and they said should have never left the shop like that. So it got sent back to be fixed. They said 2 to 4 weeks. 6 weeks go by and i called about it. They hadnt even touched it yet. So she made it a point to get it fixed and i had it within a week of my phone call. Opened it up and I couldnt even tell they ever touched it. For what those knives cost it should be perfect. I have heard several fit and finish issues others have had. I shouldve listened. I will never buy another bark river knife. Im sure it will function just fine either way but it shouldnt have the issues it left with. Just my opinion.

    Thank you for making this video. I've been looking at the Gunny lately and found it difficult to make a comparison between the different models. Do you have a personal favorite? I'm drawn to the Gunny scandi, but they're proving hard to find. Intended use will be small camp tasks, light wood processing. Not sure if the grind will have any effect on performance.

    • @legendarylife9512
      @legendarylife9512  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the scandi will do better at splitting wood the full height grind is better at slicing. the terminal edge angle will be the same on all. Any will work go scandi if you plan on beating the crap out of it

      Legendary Life, Thank you for the reply. I plan to carry a silky and small axe. The knife will be mainly for feather sticks and splitting down small kindling. I own a bravo 1, but I'm not loving the a2 steel or the ramp on mine. It also has wooden handle slabs and I lost a big chunk in front of the pin closest to the blade on one side. I was so impressed with its bomb proof feel that I got a little carried away and... Yeah. I think a Gunny in cpm 3v with micarta handle w/standard convex or Saber grind will be perfect. Thanks again for the video and taking the time to reply. Unfortunately there isn't anywhere near me where I can handle barkies..

      Don Gilcrist the standard gunny should do fine

    • @legendarylife9512
      @legendarylife9512  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bark river will replace the handle. all you do is send it in with $15 to cover the return shipping. you can request micarta if you like that better than wood. They shouldn't mind because micarta is cheaper than wood. They will also remove the ramp for free

      I think Lauri produces only the blade, so it is possible that this knife is made by someone else!
      Blade costs about 15 € -20 €! I think that the value of this knife would be around 100 € -150€!

    Maybe it's just me but it looks too much like a steak knife. Not that that's a bad thing for some people but it just doesn't do anything for me unfortunately.

    • @daveleo78
      @daveleo78 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@legendarylife9512 of that I have no doubt. I think it's because they all don't have the ramp which makes it stick in my mind as a steak knife. Again I'm sure that they're a wonderful knife they just don't do it for me from an aesthetic point of view. And if I'm going to spend that much money it's got to be something that not only works phenomenally but also is something that I want to put on my hip just because I like it.
