Virtual Ancient Rome in 3D - Baths of Caracalla, 13 minute detailed video tour

  • We invite you to expore our 3D reconstruction of famous baths of Caracalla - one of the most magnificent and enormous buildings of ancient Rome. During the 13 minutes we will walk around outside and inside, and visit the most interesting locations - open swimming pool, cold, warm and hot baths, as well as enjoy walking in the gardens outside.
Our goal is to create the most extensive, detailed and accurate virtual 3D reconstruction of the Eternal City. And this reconstruction is one of the most important parts of it. We're presenting the 2.0 edition (the 1.0 was long ago, in 2012), and I hope we have done much improvement in accuracy and realistic details of the baths. However, it is not the final result for sure, we will be improving this 3D reconstruction further, correcting something, adding details, according with the new data investigations.

This reconstruction puts some flesh on the bones and really shows off what incredible designers, architects and builders the Romans were. Even if the images of the wall coverings here are not completely accurate, they still give an idea of what the Baths would have looked like.

That's Roman architecture for you, they don't fail to impress and leave you awestruck. Style and aesthetics are key to its success. The golden ratio, which is used in ancient classical architecture is akin to Feng Sui, I reckon, since it looks and feels naturally balanced. Also, the bold and monumental style reflects Roman confidence, dominance, ability, and most of all, power. Architecture is ideal propaganda, even if it's subliminal.

The fact that some billionaire hasn’t built something like this yet is baffling.
I would definitely build a terme if I could.

Yeah, instead they waste their money, for example, buying sports teams. Boggles the mind.

I wonder how much it would take to build something of this grandeur in today's dollar cost.

Very impressive! We can't go to Rome and use the facilities (thanks, Christians!) but thank you and your staff for providing us with a virtual tour.

Complimenti sinceri a "History in 3D". Questi lavori sono incomparabilmente i più belli che si possono vedere. Non esiste un altro che possa competere. Ora aspettiamo l'interno completo del Palazzo Imperiale del Palatino.

Absolutely awesome. I visited Rome recently but missed the remnants of Roman bath houses. Thank you for making such a wonderful video.

That was awesome! Do you create these animations? Superb. Hard to believe they did all that with hand tools and with all our technology what do we create? Strip malls.I wish these recreations could be filled with people to really make it alive but I know that would be another level of complexity and expense. Thanks for the tour.

Many many thanks for the making of these films; I went to see the Baths of Caracalla on july 2019 . No words to explain the feelings , almost take our breath away. It helps our immagination about the Ancient Rome, which comes mainly from books ,and every writer has his own way to describe things.
