  • Introduction to the concept of Contemplative Photography, a new way of seeing, with a "good eye" defined by a Buddhist Zen word "Miksang". At his studio in Canada, Phil Norton re-defines the practice based on his 40-year career in all forms of photography from journalistic to artistic, and challenges photographers to try it for themselves. Also introducing the concept of Photography With Purpose. Change the world instead of just making pretty pictures. This is a sample of the discussions offered at his small group workshops in Prince Edward County and Toronto. www.countyphotographer.com

I discovered photography in 2019. My first love was Brett Weston , who I felt saw such small details in a very profound way. He seemed highly alert to the things around him. I then discovered Ernst Haas, who showed me nature and all these beautiful things as they are, but in color. His sports photography was also profound for me, the motion blur, the abstract eye.
I have shot that way ever since.
I just discovered miksang and contemplative photography and found that I have shot this way all along.
Philip Perkis is another one, who just walks around and says “wow look at that!” And clicks the shutter.
    Thanks for sharing!
