We have to take into this the idea that marriage is not only about happiness. My huaband has a mental illness. We have ups and downs due to this reality. But..we are committed to each other. Happiness cabnot be the sole purpose of marriage. Does this make sense?
@@missanonoymous7829 hey even my brother has mental illness, he can't speak though he is 13 yrs old taking care of him is very difficult it sometimes frustrates the whole family but we take care bcz we love him.. he doesn't understand anything but whenever I get hurt he starts crying like anything looking at this it gives us happiness... We love him and are sure that one day he can achieve good and that will give us happiness.... He is happy bcz he loves us too so isn't a family threaded together by happiness and nourished by love? Ik there are many other things but the soul purpose is happiness and that's why we r together. So I don't think that person is wrong.... Btw hope you all are good and safe in this pandemic

There is nothing called as an ideal wife or an ideal husband in this world. No one is perfect or can be perfect. We all are humans and have some or the other kind of expectations from each other. Problem comes from here when we start expecting and we want to change the other person according to our own needs. We need to understand that everyone is unique and different in their own ways and there are both positives and negatives in a human being and we should learn to accept it. We can't always please others and we can't always keep others happy because it's human nature that we get sad, angry, depressed, annoyed, happy, disappointed. Human being is made up of all these feelings. So instead just try to be the best of you and be happy. Because if you are happy then only you can keep others happy. Just be healthy emotionally and physically so you can enjoy your life the way it is.

That is precisely the problem - that there is a long list! Most of us are deeply flawed with inconsistent views driven by hormones. If we judge ourselves by the standards we judge others and had a fair view of reality, we would have happier relationships!
Start respecting women as human beings first, before assessing them as ‘wives’, and most of the issues with unwarranted expectations will disappear. A simple thing such as not forcing the woman to change her name/ surname after marriage will suffice.

I respectfully disagree with you. He did answer the question for both man and woman. The basis of a happy marriage, I.e. being an “ideal” wife or husband, is that each one of them is happy and they do not depend on the other to be happy, then their union can be a happy one.

He is often asked opinions and he expresses his opinions in forms of stories or in an indirect manner. If he answers the question in a direct yes or no, then people will put him in any particular group/category.
