@@lou9294 I have a 120 gallon high also, currently has Oscars for the last 10 years - when they finally go to the great river in the sky - I'm making a tank exactly like the one here - God Bless as well!
That's awesome my friend just do a lot of research on African cichlids before you make that jump although they are very beautiful they are very territorial and they will kill each other off to get the hierarchy in the tank that's just my experience that's why I don't keep them anymore but I wish you the best of luck my friend God bless you and your family

For all of you that are saying too many fish you are all incorrect when it comes to African Cichlids. Cichlids require more fish to control aggression. As long as he keeps up with water changes and has the right filtration he will have a healthy tank. Cichlids are much more hardy than community fish are and easier to care for.

How can you dislike this?!! it's amazing work!! the sand.. the rocks... maybe he could add some vegetation between the rocks or some tall vegetation in the both sides but except that , it's just amazing work and i cannot dislike something like this!! wonderful investment!!

It doesnt matter what other people do or not, only what's right for the situation. You want a pretty tank and you got one. Its amazing looking just not very conducive to fish peace of mind. It is almost as packed as pet-shop tank w/fish that will grow larger. Cichlids are highly territorial fish; they need their space. Large community tanks are in constant stress bc none of them have its own place in peace. Usually, the best way (to get fish to act naturally in a fish tank) is to consider what part of the water column the fish occupy in the lake and stock accordingly and most critically, create homes the fish will occupy,, meaning give each one or pair, plenty of space. Also,, long tanks are usually better than high ones, for cichlids bc more floor space. best!

Thumbs up! I breed many types of Cichlids from Africans to Central Americans. From Red Zebras to Discus. I also kept Saltwater fish, won many awards at different fish shows and even owned my own Tropical fish store. Sold everything after becoming a Dad 25 yrs. ago, now seeing yours has gave me back the itch again. My son is grown now and on his own. Thanks for sharing your Awesome tank. BTW... what size is that?

yea, patience goes a long way with peacocks and haps, Its just frustrating that these fishes are so hard to get here in my country. The cichlid hobby is being overwhelm by arowanas flowerhorns and goldfish here.

I might actually be getting American cichlids instead:p I don't know to many choices!!
MAHATESCOUNTERS you can't stock american cichlids like you can africans. they grow much bigger and overstocking is not recommended. in a 55 unless you want one or two fish i'd go with africans.
I will be getting 4-5 Americans that is a decent amount.. And yes I know not to overstock Americans :p
