Hehe, thanks. I consider myself very lucky to have found it, but now I have a morale obligation to return it to the original specification 😀. so much for the cafe racer! Maybe the next one! Cheers, Mike
Very nice Mike, bet there are many who had no idea where to look for those numbers or even what they mean, like me for instance. Very valuable information.
Thanks a lot Wooley. It's been a really interesting experience learning about these numbers and the great support from the Norton Owners Club. Best wishes, Mike
You got yourself a piece of history there, Mike, no.1 it’s official 👍 To me it’s surprising that it still a matching numbers bike, you have to a good job of restoring it now. Where did you find it, bet that’s a story in itself?
Hi David, yes I'm so happy about it. I'll have to do a little story about how I came about it but a friend in our club was offered it when he purchased another bike and didn't want 2 bikes and offered it to me. I thought it was a 650/SS and love them (like Chuck's bike) and so I jumped at it, only to find out later that it was the first Manxman. Like you say, now I have to do a good job of restoring it back to original specifications... including those handlebars! 🤣
'Resale Value' just went up Mike .. lol All interesting stuff & nothing like having the documentation to back it up. Have great week, regards to all. t ..
Hi, the basic factory record check is free I believe, but the factory record certificates are chargeable. You can get these whether you're a club member or not. The price is more expensive of course for non-members. Here's a link to the NOC website with additional info: www.nortonownersclub.org/records/factory-records-certificate Cheers, Mike
Not very glamorous, but essential and fascinating research. On a side note, my wife wrote a horror story about a bike that had mystical runes engraved on the frame and the new owner was pursued by terrifying supernatural bikers. If you see any weird squiggles...
Comforting to know all the numbers match and it is indeed number one. Cool!
Phew! Yes, very happy to see that they all matched, Scott. How is the Speed Twin going? It's a terrific looking bike.
Wow -
That's a real find !!!
Regardless of what one collects - to have the 1st in the series - priceless !!!

Excellent Mike, No1.
Cheers Greg.
Thanks a lot Greg! I'm thrilled that it's what we hoped it would be. Best wishes, Mike
It's quite fun and interesting to see those...
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed the vid. Best wishes, Mike

Thanks a lot Terry. Yes, I do hope so.. I have a few ideas about longer term plans but it's going to be a good while. Best wishes, Mike
Nice one Mike . Who would have thought when purchased what you had . Ps hope that wasn't the wife's toothbrush 🤣
Hehe, yes it's been an amazing discovery! Now I have to paint it blue with the red seat 🤣
Interesting to research this sort of stuff. I just let my NOC membership lapse. Is the records look up/printout done for free or is there a charge?

Hehe, I will have to look out for the squiggles John!! Thanks for sharing that story. Best wishes, Mike
Please information about the norton dominator oil line model 99 off 1961.. please
Hi Mutiara. What specifically would you like to know?
TOP, No1
Thanks a lot Erwin. Best wishes, Mike
It appears that you have thoroughly obliterated any arguments that the bike's original color wasn't blue.
Haha, yes Jim. I hope that confirms it once and for all 🤣
