Wow that drill sergeant and his attention to detail. It's all for nothing, you hardly ever do drill in your 1st duty station. Only during morning pt for a minute or so, or during a cha get of command ceremony or during a brigade/division runnwhich I hated. If you go to BLC you have to learn all this all over again. I ETS over a year and half ago and all these commands sounded pretty much brand new to me as I forgot 80% of it.
Depends on the type of unit you go to. Some units emphasize more on D&C than others do. Go to a line unit, and you're completely correct. Focus there is on prepping for deployment and coming back home alive. Part of a Honor Guard or something similar, you're doing this day in and day out.
They do it better, lol. But each branch seems to have their own standards for Drill and Ceremony. For Army, that looks damn good. *From the Great Place.*
Damn wtf! Showing marines what’s up. My d&c was iconically bad(our drill didn’t give af, we were busy training) that we got recognized for the worst d&c.
According to TC 3-21.5, you do not call left flank after calling a right flank. The appropriate way to continue the direction of march from a right/left flank is forward march. Everyone in the Army has been making that mistake for years.
I absolutely hated this shit. I stepped in a prairie dog hole and broke my ankle during a night FTX ( If you've ever been stationed at Ft. Sill Ok then you already know) and didn't go to TMC for fear of being recycled. So I carried on hoping it'd get better, managed to hide the pain during PT/ruck marches with the army's "cure all" motrin and then d and c training came up. my stupid ass looked like a new born giraffe out there stumbling around with that broken ankle. DS pulled me out of formation and told me drill and ceremony just wasn't for me and made me go sit on the bleachers. I remember feeling like shit and then perking after realizing this dog and pony show type shit counts for fuck all down range and that I was squared away in all the other areas that counted.I graduated and got it taken care of in AIT.
What they don't show you is the thousands of pushups it takes to get to this point lol!
Don't forget iron mikes and duck walking. That use to fix me right up. Push ups I use to pray for.
Throw in a few squat thrusts , side straddle hips, and some front back go action too 🤪. Although I’ve heard that front back go is no longer authorized. Those sucked the worst
