      Because YOU didn't, Jake. You claim to encourage your community to figure out things for themselves and spend a good deal of time condescending to them about how they shouldn't want step-by-step guides because that makes them "sheep" and they need to treat this as a college course, when the reality is that your EndMyopia material is virtually incomprehensible without guidance. Of course, there's a difference between taking a class with a professor vs. getting a textbook and piecing everything together yourself. But your free material is not analogous to a textbook, it's rather like if you cut up the textbook, stapled random pages together, rearranged the order, and added superfluous fluff. Your TH-cam clips and articles have so little information that my time is wasted for a good 70% of the time I'm on EndMyopia stuff. There is no starting point, there's about 30 seconds of useful content per video, you send people on endless redirects, etc. You want people to pay you, I get it. But stop gaslighting your community, telling them that they're sheep, they're lazy, and they have attitude problems, when in reality, you're just producing incomprehensible garbage.

    I have been saying this since forever though and my point proves your point as well. When I was young I use to play allot of video games and watch TV, I needed glasses, then when I was a teen i stopped watching tv and playing games opting to listen to music and go out with friends, come my 3 year eye exam I no longer needed glasses and my vision was perfect to which my optician claimed it was down to wearing my glasses, upon me telling her I never wore them she then went on to tell me that my eyesight wasn't prefect and I should continue wearing my glasses when watching tv or reading(ironic 360 she did, still makes me laugh).. Now as an adult I spend more time inside my house and I play/type on a 60 inch tv that is an arm length away, yep I need glasses again, but ironically enough getting a new job and being away from the screen for the majority of the day i'm noticing an improvement in my vision again.. So I totally believe this videos and the information given because I have first hand experience.

      Also my mum would where glasses everywhere. I proved it to her by telling her to stop wearing glasses when she goes out, she found her eyes adjusting and getting better, even needed a down grade in the prescription as her lenses were too strong.. she went back to wearing her glasses all day every day and needed an increase again. lol People

    Literally none of the countless eye doctors I saw told me that I don't need to wear my myopia glasses for close up work. I ended up having lots of eye strains and floaters after using myopia glasses for close up work (and computer works). Unbelievable! And all eye doctors I saw are very impatient and not willing to work with you. They just want to write prescription and get you out of their office. If you ask to adjust, they look at you like a crazy person for not just being happy with their first prescription.

    I can active focus (and I didn’t knew that even had a name for awhile) and my myopia is low -1/-1.25 (tested at optometrist some months ago) - I will do getting sunlight, being outside more doing active focus and distant vision, not wear my glasses. UPDATE: I found my old (first) glasses from around 4 years ago. I put them on and I SAW WELL. It's been 4 months since I have started this, and I have improved by the expected rate of 0.25 diopters. (I can see my screen about 2 cm further, but can't see a difference with distance, yet)
    I was at -3.75 last year at night at this yearly night festival, and was astonished when I was seeing more clear (with the -3.5 current full correction) than I was with the -3.75 last year. I only use the -3.5 at night because It's so sharp in the day, that I can't active focus. Look forward to seeing perfectly sharp vision at night with -3.25 three or four months from now

    Low Myopia, is when you can read most of the letters on the 20/50 line, both eyes open, over several days. It is always critical that you verify this, objectively.
    Check this, to find the minum minus power to, "just clear", the 20/30 Line. It will probably be about -1.0 diopters.

    Love the video!! It's probably the best introduction video to Endmyopia I've seen so far! But I would like to add that you failed to mention the importance of dominant eye vs non-dominant eye. If you think about it, there's really no need for the glasses to have different diopters for different eyes. Like I just got my new pair of glasses today, they are normalized, but they have the same diopters on both lenses even though I have different diopters in each eye because one eye will always be more dominant than the other. So it's more comfortable and better for both lenses to be the same so the eye can easily adapt to the negative stimulus. If one lense has one diopter and another lense has another diopter, everything gets all messed up and the brain starts becoming stressed from not knowing which eye should be the dominant one. You get what I mean?

    • @NottNott
      @NottNott  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked it. I don't think it's particularly important - these four main things are things I need to do every day to be successful. Whether an eye is dominant hasn't made a big difference in my approach to vision improvement admittedly, it might explain how things got a certain way with myopia though, so more of a progression topic than for improvement.

    Great video. A question that comes to mind though is why people think they're having ciliary spasms. From what I understand, a ciliary spasm prevents the eye from performing accommodation. This would mean that if you put your finger out in front of your face and focused on it, and then looked at the wall beyond your finger, your finger would NOT go out of focus, and the wall would NOT come into focus (to the degree that your myopia allows).
    I'm sure this happens to some people, but it's definitely not normal. No matter how many tens of hours I sit in front of my computer screen, my eyes don't lose the ability to accommodate.

    Hi! I would like to thank you so much for this video since you made every concept much clearer to me. I came across endmyopia in 2019 after I was sent to the optometrist in August 2018 because my right eye was itchy. I was told I was 2.0 on my right eye and 1.00 on my left eye. Later I started having migraines and I felt I had been sent glasses with overprescription. Fast forward to February 2019 and I discovered that my vision was very blurry when trying to check the whiteboard of a college classroom, even with the lense on. Later on, I got a new eye exam which said that I was 1.25 on both eyes even though I have better vision on my right eye. My question is, how do I find an optometrist that will provide me with differentials and glasses with less diopters? here in Colombia they seem to always make you buy the glasses they formulate and only those.

      Probably a lot of close up activities growing up. You may also have a genetic predisposition for close-up induced myopia.
      Myopia is not a genetic illness, but some people's genes make it so they develop myopia faster if they do close-up stuff.
      If person A and person B both performed the same amount of close-up work, person A might develop myopia faster from genetic factors, while person B might not develop myopia as fast because of genetic factors. However, if neither of them did any close-up work, neither would develop any myopia.
      You might have a genetic predisposition like person A. Also, you might have engaged in more close-up activities than the average child growing up.
      EndMyopia will still work for you.

    Hi! I’m 11, in my right eye, I’m -5 and in my left, I’m 4.75. I find it very hard to find motivation to do this but I’m gonna start today! I usually wear glasses -0.50 than my normal glasses (including to school) because I find that I can still see pretty good. I always hate going to the optometrist because I feel like I’ve lost hope and I’m gonna be “blind” I guess in the future. I first got glasses when I was 6. Hey, thank you so much for this guide, it was super clear! I know the rule for buying normalized is 0.25 diopters below your "actual" prescription, but how do really know your actual prescription? I went to the optometrist a week ago and the diopters she gave me were a different eye ratio than the centimeter measurements I have been doing. And even the centimeters, as you know, vary so much throughout the day and throughout the week. It seems like the only real solution to finding the right pair of normalized is opening your wallet and doing trial and error with different prescriptions until one pair feels right.

    • @NottNott

I always read and do very close work without glasses. For mid range, like looking at a magazine, my vision is blurry with or without glasses 🕶️. I have a very strong prescription with astigmatism. I have noticed over the last 20 or 30 years that when i get new glasses, the prescription seems wrong. A lack of clarity and sometimes distortions. I think the clarity issue is due to plastic lenses, as opposed to glass. An eye doctor told me the distortions were do to the correction for my astigmatism and I just wasn't used to the right way of seeing. I haven't been to an optometrist in about 10+ years still wearing my 10+ year old pair.

      @NottNott  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Press X to doubt. Optometrists can sometimes overprescribe like crazy. Solution: measure distance to blur and calculate your own myopia to see if it matches what the optometrist is saying. I'd be somewhat surprised, tbh. Check out Varakari's Vision Log Tool for this, see it on the EM wiki.

      I was 8 years old at the time when I was given the -3.5. Now unfortunately after following optometrists orders for 15 years I'm at -10...Admittedly I'm hoping I just started with a very bad ciliary spasm so I could get a chunk of that vision back a little faster. I just discovered this video a few days ago and I must have rewatched this video about 10 times already. It is a great comprehensive summary of Jake's approach to vision improvement.

    I am eventually going to buy normalized for daily life, going outside and differentials for PC work only and perhaps add blue light filters. Also, no glasses for using my phone and reading books Then,, I will start to reduce the lens correction incrementally over the months/years. I am going to measure my blur horizon from how I normally sit in front of my PC, so I can accurately dial in those differential lenses and measure my progress.

    How do you get normalized below 20/20 without a prescription?!
    Also, not clear on differentials because end myopia said distance just before a blur, he's saying distance from screen to typical sitting position

    Este vídeo es genial, durante años navegué en bits de información que me resultaban muy confusos pero aquí están todos resumidos

    Wow, that was one of the best videos surrounding myopia i've ever seen. just gonna watch the video and ask questions as I go. feel free to answer any that you know something about, would appreciate some clarification/assistance.
    1. will this improve astigmatism as well?
    2. When I went to the eye doctor after a 3 year gap they told me that my prescription was much worse than before, yet I can still see 20/20 clearly with my glasses I got in 2019. does this mean I was overprescribed?
    3. how much does dry eye and eye strain affect your vision? Before I started getting these regularly, I did not remember my vision being this bad until these became issues for me
    4. Do eye drops help at all? I've noticed my vision is better when I use these regularly, And have even had "clear flashes" shortly after using them.
    Once again thanks for the information, very well put together video.

    Should you wear glasses when you are seeing distant objects when u walk or should u wear normalized glasses?

    my vision improves when i fast more than 28 hours. my entire system goes into "hunter mode". i suspect if you practice intermittent fasting the HGH spikes will allow your eye ball to change shape faster and you can improve a bit faster than 1 diopter per year.
