I like how Inside the NBA crew, who covers the ECF, gave better and more respectful coverage of the Nuggets than the ESPN crew back on the WCF. It's a complete joke that Mark Jackson and Lisa Salters covered the WCF despite the fact that Jackson left Jokić off of his MVP ballot, and Lisa admitted that she never even watched a single Jokić game up until this series.
That's because these guys are professionals, not hype machines, and aren't crippled by coastal media bias. Even if they make incorrect predictions or you don't agree with their takes, at least we know it's coming from a place of relative objectivity, AND they aren't so full of themselves that they have to make a bunch of back-handed comments when their predictions don't come to pass.

I will give JJ and Windhorst telling Stephen A how it is this am, but Stephen A in classic fashion is deaf to anything that is not his own opinion

Charles hit the 🎯🎯 on this segment couldn’t have said it no better. No real props to The Nuggets by mainstream sports media.
Lower profile franchises compared to more storied ones like the Lakers and Celtics. They won't get the attention unless they win a championship. Nobody gave a damn about Golden State Warriors until after winning the 2015 Finals. Even here in the San Francisco Bay Area, you didn't see much Warriors stuff until that championship.
Low profile teams to get the sports media attention literally have to grab their respective leagues by the threat, win a championship to get people to talk about them more. Even bad teams get more coverage if they are a big name franchise.
The Warriors after losing to Toronto in the Finals and having a really bad season fell off the media coverage. They were ignored, just like how it was before the 2015 championship. Win another one and then all the sudden they were talking about the Warriors again.
That's how it is for a lower profile franchise. The Nuggets will have to beat the respect out of the league and get a championship. They'd have to keep doing it by showing excellence, because the moment the winning and deep playoff runs disappear, they'll get ignored. Meanwhile a big name franchise in a big city will always have attention, no matter the record.

Warriors fans showed out the year they upset the Mavericks in 2007 Dirk got MVP that year too. But you right in a sense, it’s just annoying asf. Their especially infatuated with LA even the down years they had National TV games.
Nuggets deserve all the props and they should be the most talked about team, not whether Lebron is about retire or not. They somehow even found a way to include Lebron in Carmelo's retirement by talking about how Lebron the last one remaining and all that...crazy!

the news is always going to be about what people care about. the media are just doing their jobs talking about what people are going to click on. its not anyones fault. people just dont care much about the nuggets.
@@valjohnson7112 the media’s sensationalization of big markets is part of the problem. On one hand they are just doing their job, because they are reporting on what makes the most money. I understand that. But On the other hand, this is the product of years of only building up certain figures and franchise and ignoring smaller market teams who had been good. The media is still to blame, because of their inability to make the NBA as a whole palatable to their casual audience (which, in an ideal world, should be their job). And instead of trying to take yet another opportunity of a smaller market making a championship run to fix that for the future, they are just laying in the bed they helped make and going nowhere.
If it wasn’t for social media allowing independent creators to gain an audience covering the nba in different ways from the standards set by the mainstream (think Kenny Beecham), the nba would be in an even WORSE place right now. So you absolutely still can blame the media. The media influences what people want. Supply and demand is not a one way street.

As great as LeBron has been, this habit of trying to recruit other teams' superstars to all meet up in some big-market city is going to be an unfortunate aspect of his legacy as well.

Even then they won't. Things like that happen all the time with small market teams going all the way. Most recent example: everyone clowns the Raptors about their ring. All the talk of this and that to de-legitimize their win. Nobody gave a f a few weeks after, and sure as shi no one talks about them now. Denver won't be any different

They heard JJ this morning about the media bias on teams and players and they just giving their opinions. The finals don't start for a whole week. All the NBA news will be about the Lakers and what they need to win a title (Lebron to win a fifth, even tho Curry still at 4 too), nobody else, like the Kings, Hawks, Wolves or Cavs. Which is funny cause they were favorites to win the title a week ago.

I hear ya but hear me out fam … Imagine that you’re working your tail off at your commission job and outdoing all your competition but they still get Employee of the Month accolades and bonuses over and over just bc they’ve been there longer than you. Would that make you want to keep working harder while getting clowned, lied about, and disrespected while losing out on added opportunities you should’ve already earned and may not get again?
That’s how it is for the Nuggets! It matters if nobody watches their games BECAUSE all the NBA media goons keep pushing a false narrative that Joker is fat and slow, the Nuggets are boring to watch and a fraudulent #1 seed, and as Stephen Ass said right after they swept the Lakers, “nobody wants to go to Denver (paraphrasing).” The players are less likely to attract attention and sponsorship deals or post-bball media career opportunities. Great players don’t consider going to Denver bc they think it’s a “cow town,” though it’s constantly rated as one of the best places to live in the country and we have the most professional sports teams of any city! Or, God forbid one of our current players pulls a Melo and decides to chase the limelight in NYC … then how is the team ever going to have a chance to build and compete against the powerhouse teams that attract those players and opportunities?
When you consider all that, it’s no wonder they haven’t won a chip before and pretty freaking amazing they’re in the Finals now! And I think *that* is why Malone is calling the big outlets out now - so that he can help draw opportunities for his team and attract future players to Denver too!

It was completely distasteful and selfish for Lebron to hint at retirement on a night where we should be celebrating or showing respect to the Denver Nuggets.
... or at the very least, if the media wants to talk about the Lakers, maybe they should bring up how AD retired early in the first quarter of Game 4, to take up a job as a bricklayer and defensive traffic cone. But somehow no one mentioned AD's abysmal night when discussing the Lakers' loss.
Most of the sports mediate didn't give denver a chance to make it to the finails! They just play really good team basketball on both ends of the floor!
