My mom died unexpectedly on my 2nd day of a total of 16 hours of major surgery. My family didn’t want for me to know, when I came out of surgery, that she had died. I told my sisters that evening that I felt a presence ; that it wasn’t Dad; wasn’t his energy. The next day I was told Mom passed. Looking back I know that presence was her. She had promised to visit me that day. She kept her promise.

My wife's mom has a brain disease that the doctors don't understand and don't have a cure for. When I met my MIL, she was so adventurous and would rather be out in nature than sitting at home. A few years ago, she started slurring her words and stopped skiing as much as she used to. Fast forward to now and scans show her brain is shrinking. The specialists think it is going to kill her but don't know when. This once adventurous woman is now scared of a few stairs. I hope my wife keeps the memories of her mom break dancing at our wedding because that's who her mom really is.
