    Introduction: 0:00
    Punta Arenas 1:37
We explore Chile's largest city in the south which lies on the Strait of Magellan. After learning the history of the great explorer Ferdinand Magellan we try some of the best local seafood at the market. We pick up our campervan and begin our 3 week roadtrip through Patagonia, starting in the arid landscape of the Patagonian steppe.
    Mount Fitzroy/El Chalten 6:10
We depart at sunrise and make the long but ridiculously scenic drive to the tourist town of El Chalten. Here we undertake one of the most beautiful day hikes in the world to Mount Fitzroy (Cerro Fitzroy)/Laguna de los Tres. This trail meanders through Autumn Forest. We summit up to a magnificent viewpoint overlooking Mount Fitzroy itself and the famous turquoise lakes of the Laguna de los Tres. We return back to town in time for an amazing dinner.
Patagonian Steppe/Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the Hands) 16:41
We head back east from the Andes into the desert of the Patagonian steppe. On our first night we take shelter from heavy winds in a small town known as Gobernador Gregores. The following day we head deep into the desert, spotting wild Guanacos, Rheas and a Fox along the way. Here we discover the Coloured Sands and 'Ice Cream Clay' of Parque Patagonia. We make a last minute decision to check out one of the oldest archeological sites in South America, Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the Hands). Set inside an epic canyon, we learn detailed history about the people who left behind these paintings, as well as some of the mystery that surrounds them. We return to our car at sunset where we run into a bit of a problem..
    Lago Buenas Aires/General Carrera 32:22
We head back to the mountains crossing from Los Antiguos in Argentina to Chile Chico in Chile. We continue along a scenic but trecherous drive that follows Chile's Largest lake, the second largest in South America, Lago Buenas Aires or Lago General Carrera. We finish up overnight in the town of Puerto Rio Tranquilo as we reach the famous Carretera Austral Highway!
Capillas de Marmol (Marble Caves) - Coyhaique 38:19
We start off at sunrise with a boat ride on the tranquil Lake General Carrera exploring the beautiful Capillas de Marmol known as the Marble Caves in English. We learn about the geology of these features, as well as the interesting shapes and structures imagined by these formations, including the Chapel (Capilla) and Cathedral. From Rio Tranquilo we head north along the Carretera Austral to the town of Coyhaique via the scenic Cerro Villa Castillo. Just outside Coyhaique we meet some friends and stay at a great little lodge overnight.
    Coyhaique - Puyuhuapi/Colgante Ventisquero Glacier 46:35
We depart Coyhaique after an introduction to the area given by our friend/local guide Diego. We stop at a pristine lake and village on the Carretera for lunch before heading over a high pass leading us down to the Quelat National Park. Here we check out the stunning Colgante Ventisquero, a hanging glacier with massive waterfalls. We finish up for the evening in the nearby village of Puyuhuapi.
