- Volunteer Firefighting is all about tradition. The Chester, NJ Volunteer Fire Department puts on quite a show every January 1st. The new chief is sworn in every year on January 1st. Part of the tradition involves lots of lights, noise, fun and food. Listen and watch as they return back to quarters. Turn up your speakers and enjoy
