Ok, I came here to share my newly acquired Wikipedia knowledge. The Scandinavian bards in medieval times were called "Skalden" (plural), one was a "Skalde". "Met" is mead. There is a nordic tale about the "Skaldenmet" which was a mead, that basically turned you into a Skalde, when you drank it. The story begins with the gods who, after a long war, agreed to a truce. In order to seal this truce, they spat (yes, gross) into a pot and from their spittle they created a creature that was wiser than any other. Its name was Kvasir and it travelled the world to give knowledge to mankind. One day, it visited two dwarves called Fjalar and Galar, who killed Kvasir and mixed its blood with honey in order to brew a mead. There's a lot more to the story, but in short the two dwarves committed several crimes, killed, blackmailed and manipulated people until Odin became aware, stole the mead and gave it to the gods and those truly gifted in poetry.
Our lovly Johann isnt smiling in this song as much as she does in other songs . i think it is because she needs to conzentrate on her play after 4 hours livedrinking with us in their sylvesterlivestream. :-) i had trinken with them live and was really drunk at this point the perform this song live:-). One thing I love about all the reactors that I watch, is that they've introduced me to bands I may never have heard. On a side note I have Odins Triple Horns tattooed on my arm.
September 19th has to be "Alestorm day" then ... because that one is *_"International Talk Like A Pirate Day"_* ... and has been for a few years now.
