Idk why but Jane has that warm look in her eyes. At the end of breaking dawn 2 you see everyone’s real name and Twilight name and the look in Janes eyes is really warm there, it looks like she is laughing.
Mind reading would be much more reliable to find and help punish criminals in general as they can't hide anything. Jane's power appeared because she wanted people to feel what it's like to burn alive after all and the only purpose is to torture people.

Jane was fine imo. She was impactful in every scene she was in especially when using her power. Alec is the problematic one. They SHOULD have shown him taking down multiple if not hundred vampires in the past and that he was the main strength of Volturi. Bella stopping his power really showed how strong she was and that Volturi no longer had any advantages.
It always kinda pissed me off that no one tried very hard to save Bree because no one was in love with her. You're not a soulmate, no exceptions for you, you don't matter. It feels like it should've been in Bella's character to care more, and the fact that it didn't just made her look selfish. Or Carlisle's.

She moved to Forks to give her mom some time with her new husband, automatically started cooking for her father so he wouldn't have to. She started out as a decent (though probably clinically depressed) person who was drawn into Edward's world and slowly changed into an obsessive, dependent, selfish girl who cared about no one else as much as Edward. She compromised her selflessness (willing to leave dad thinking she was dead), her compassion (not standing up for Bree), her independence, (not being outraged that Edward had her engine taken out so she couldn't go see Jacob), her desire not to be married... Etc., etc., etc. The original Bella would've been upset to see Bree killed. The Bella she became was already too far gone. Okay, you probably didn't want an essay. It's just that I recently read that article and it explains so much...

Well, yes. It's a crappy book. Bella's a terrible character and if she was real, would be a terrible person. It's just even worse that Bella started out a selfless girl (moving to give her mom and her mom's new hubby some privacy, cooking for her dad so he can have some decent meals) and then SM went ooc with *her own character* and made her so uncaring. That's not just lousy writing, it's lazy writing, when you can't even keep your own creation in-character. I mean, it's not like it was character-*growth* to make her not care about the girl who wasn't even given a choice to become a vamp. So that's no excuse.
