Wonderful to see 2 great grass court champions battling to 10-8 in the 3rd set, Fantastic memories. Thank you to who ever put this on You Tube.

Thank you so much for posting this match with Evonne, in my opinion the most beguiling and naturally talented player to ever grace a tennis court. How I wish there were far more clips featuring her effortless artistry.

A tennis gem. Thank you so much. Evonne won second Wimbledon Crown a year after, isn't it?

Correct: Chris Evert (-Lloyd*) beat her in this tournament's final a year later, but Evonne won the more important match three weeks later. *-for a brief spell.

@@ThorstenOrr and that Wimbledon Final of 1980 was to be the last time she beat Chris. She had 2 kids by the next time they me in late 81 and was really over it and not totally focussed as she has 2 kids !

These two have had their share of great matches. One that comes to mind is their 74 U.S. Open final. Evonne was in a position to win her first U.S. Open title, being up 5-2 in the third set.
But the ever feisty BJK would not have it, sweeping the last five games for a comeback win.
Evonne also had a heartbreaking loss to Margaret Court the previous year 73 U.S. Open final, coming so close to capturing the title. She did make four consecutive U.S finals 1973 to 76.

Including the two evert won on clay a surface tailor made for her , however evonne never took losses to heart

This was BJK's first singles tournament of the year (in June of 1979) as she had knee surgery previous to this and was sidelined for many months. Still, she made a match of it, and actually defeated the then worlds #1, Martina Navratilova, in the quarters 6/1, 6/2. Not a bad comeback at all.

@@billford4469- Hey Bill, BJK lost her "step" after her 1976 knee operation (her eighth knee operation), and was never the same player thereafter. Her mobility was what made her able to compete with Chrissie and the other top players well past her prime. It was all about her movement. Once she lost that, she was toast for Chrissie and the other baseline bashers.

    Terrible outfit on Billie Jean

I like it. Nothing like a little color, especially in staid old all white outfits in England. This outfit would never have been allowed at Wimbledon.
