KSL News is fantastic. My wife and I lived in Elko (most SLC folks likely will know where that is) for about 25 years before moving to Florida a few years back . We miss Nevada and Utah quite a bit! Seeing this clip and with familiar newscasters is like catching up with old family members. Thanks! 🌠🌟🌠
@@kasai1575 Doppelmayr debuted eight-passenger chair technology in 1997 (in Norway of all places) and continues to be the market leader, having built two-thirds of those operating today. But for the first time ever the Leitner-Poma Group installed more than Doppelmayr and Garaventa combined last year. In 2006, Leitner built the first combined installation with eight-passenger chairs and 10-passenger gondola cabins and there are now seven of these across Europe. Bubble chairs and seat heating came along in 2000 and nearly every new eight-passenger lift features both these days. In total, 60 percent of eight seaters globally have bubbles and half sport heated seats.
@@StartVisit Lots of American military weapon are based on Norwegian technology. As a Norwegian myself, I can tell that we always had this kind of speed with lots of seat. I was just recently in Norefjell and they have the same speed, but idk if it was eight seats, but it should be common as everyone skiies/snowboard in the winter
You should check out how much snow Tignes has received compared to Utah this year you'd be surprised. I think Utah is very overly popular due to smart and aggressive marketing@@meh-87
One downside of these fast chairs is that they DO dump a lot of people onto the mountain in a short period of time. If you're riding a groomer, you're going to have some company.

No surprise about Norway being first. I think every kid in Norway grows up skiing and starts at a very young age and I think Norway might have invented skiing as well. What better place to try out new technologies?
A resort by me used this magic carpet for a season.... if it stops working u cannot glide across it.... its like glue..... slowing the lines to a crawl....needless to say they only used it one season....
It is fast, but try waiting in a long line for it. You have to wait sideways on a hill. People were sliding into each other and falling. It slowed everything down. The resort was only allowing 3 people on each chair last weekend. They were also leaving every 4 chairs empty. What was going on?! I think the 4 seater loaded faster and had better line management. We did everything we could to avoid this chair lift. So disappointing.
Yes, since the bull wheel is still turning chairs at full speed while unloading and loading people at slow speeds. The top will fit like 3 chairs in the terminal now while one is unloading.
Its funny seeing the contrast of all the marketing efforts for this chair against all the hate season pass holders are showing for the parking failure Brighton has demonstrated
They never say how fast it is, but simple math can get you there. It's 5777ft/318seconds = 5.5 m/s or 12.4 mph which is in line with Doppelmayr's website for the D-line. Typical high speed quads are about 5 m/s or 11.2 mph according to the google.
@@MegaDtard hmmm.. at 6.0 m/s that's 19.685 fps take 5777ft /19.685 fps and you get 293 sec or 4.9 minutes which is faster than they are advertising. I also saw on the Dopplemayr D-line brochure stating 5.5 m/s. Not trying to doubt you at all just haven't seen anything that supports 6 m/s. Also, unsure of what you mean regarding 8 m/2?
Hard to believe a great place for skiing like Utah is only just getting its first 6 man detachable chair lift. There's 36 of these in the French resort of Portes du Soleil where I mostly ski.
It's not "the first 6man detachable" chair lift. I worked for Vail in Park City years ago and they have a few 6man detachable chair lifts and they also had the conveyor belts on a detached and a fixed grip chair as well

Kinda being picky here: Define fastest. We talking about cable speed, people capacity per hour, or time from bottom to top? or a combination of those per elevation gained? I feel like claming it to be the fastest in utah might be wrong.
I remember when Grouse Mountain in Vancouver BC opened their first high speed quad, the Asians did everything they possibly could to make it go as slow as humanly possible.
Funny. Bragging about the chair and then showing less than full chairs, including a single in one of the opening shots. a fast chair is nothing if it is 5/6 th empty.
As they should be. Snowbird needs to follow and charge for parking so they can pay more people to manage the mountain. Snowbird sucks because their is no daily limit.
I saw a faster lift than this one. The only thing it was going backwards and throwing people off of it.

the addition of a conveyor belt in to the loading process is a good idea, indeed
20 yrs old European technology finally came in to US with 3X price 😮
D-Line is not 20 years old
D-Line has only been around since 2015. And the US got their first D-Line in 2018.

Brighton needs to open up new zones on the backside like Snowbird did with Mineral Basin.
2400 people per hour is standard for all detachable 6 packs. If it happens to go faster, they just have less carriers.

Utah finally puts in a six pack chair. 25 years after the first one went in. Maybe they can park as many cars as they sell passes next year.
Just Wait until it breaks down

All these lifts do make skiing down way more crowded.
