    trust me when i say a good chunk of their customers is gonna be lost due to this decision. when i worked at BBY for a few years there were regular customers who would come in every week to buy a ton of blu rays lol

      My target in my area got rid of physical copies of movies. Now having books to replace the section of movies. Still has physical game copies for xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. It's Sad that best buy is next on getting rid of movies. Now just Walmart left on getting physical copy movies.

      @@user-kr9cg5vc84 yes they do have all of those things, but the company's been going under for a while now and that's part of the reason i jumped ship when i did. a lot of my friends at the store left around the same time too. the CEO has zero clue what she's doing on a company level, and to make things even worse on top of that, my store had no general manager for nearly 4 months. ask anyone who's worked there since the pandemic. Best Buy is a trainwreck right now.

    Prior to the current streaming service, DVDs and Blu-rays were the physical viewing method for movies and series. It’s no secret that movie collectors hold DVDs and Blu-rays in high regard. But what does the future hold for this platform? Will we see a dead end, or is there hope?

    • @johnleone1996
      @johnleone1996 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it'll be a while before physical media dies simply due to the fact that not everyone, myself included, has great internet speeds. Also, the fact that Disney and Netflix are releasing some of their streaming catalog in physical format shows that they still care about the physical media market (to an extent when it comes to Disney)

    The industry is changing.
    They would rather have people pay $$ to stream or otherwise pay for premium services to watch their favorite shows, movies.
    They're Greedy!
    If you could watch it at home, any time you want, Why pay $$ to stream it?
    I remember when DVDs and Blu Rays were Everywhere!
    4K Blu Ray is a mistake.
    No 1 is buying them.
    In a bad economy, who's gonna pay $40 for an HD 4K disc when groceries and rent are So expensive?
    For what you'd pay for a home theater system ( which is what you need for optimum 4K playback)

    That’s not entirely true on the subject of digital video games. In the early 2010s an HD remake of a classic Sega Genesis game known as earthworm Jim was made. However, the company that made it (interplay) closed down due to bankruptcy and sold off it’s properties including the earthworm Jim HD game that was made no longer playable on the PlayStation and Xbox it was released on. Because the game was not made physically it will not be played or watched ever again except for TH-cam videos and Google images.
