Tech's final line is so poetic, like when we first meet him... he won't shut up about things and seemed emotionless about what he was saying. However, when faced with the idea of death, he just says something short yet meaningful about his family.

The moment he said “…plan 99.” I knew what was going to happen.
The fact that they made a Plan 99 as the code for making the ultimate sacrifice for your brothers hit me so much harder than I could have expected.
I spent the rest of the episode (and several moments through out my day) in tears. Doubling up the loss of Tech with the loss of their namesake was so unfair lol
And then having Omega actually experience the loss of one of her brothers, after seeing how much having them only temporarily leaving hurt her…ugh! How is this more mature and emotionally devastating than the live action shows?! Clone Wars, Rebels, and now Bad Batch outclassing the live action counterparts time and time again, you’d think I’d be used to it by now!

About the googles, Hemlock didn't say that they were all they could find, he said "all that we could salvage," and the googles were badly broken. See, you have a point, and that would make sense given how Tech and the car fell, assuming he didn't pull some mid-flight shenanigans. However, at this point I have the same rule for Star Wars as I have for Marvel: If you don't see a body, don't assume they're dead. Especially with Hemlock's hyper focus on using clones, especially unique ones, for whatever purpose. I think if they do it right, they could do something with it. However, of course, keeping him dead is also extremely effective for the purpose of the future of the show, so I'm good either way, as long as it's handled correctly.

And in the German dub, all of them are voiced by the guy who also does Temuera Morrison's voice throughout the franchise, so the impact was even more severe. Personally, I don't think Tech is coming back. Emerie Karr could potentially replace him, now that she is revealed to be a clone too. I did see this coming. What convinced me ultimately was the empathy she showed towards Crosshair when he gets captured. Only another clone would show it so openly while employed by the Empire.

@@DazHotep6EQUJ5 Agreed. As someone who gave psychosocial support to refugees in the past I love Saw as a character due too his realistic actions. Although his actions are repetitive, it still applies very much in the real world. Remind you that he was one of the first characters that caused the spark of the Rebellion due too his actions on Onderon. He later parted ways with the Rebellion due too his extreme tactics which cared little for collateral damage. Those tactics also caused him to lose his sister blinding him with anger, rage and regret. His character reminds me of Pain from Naruto whom I wrote about years ago in college. Pain lost so much due too other parties who destroyed his nation, that he ultimately became the very thing he hated. Blinded by those emotions he took out not only high ranking opponents but also civilians. Its similair too the refugees I helped from AF and ME and during my time in those places. I've met people who lost their siblings, parents or friends in U.S. airstrikes and during civil war. They were never compensated for those losses, instead they felt attacked by a foreign entity who either directly attacked them or deliberately set up locals against eachother but they did not seek revenge. That's why I love Saw's character and Star Wars. You're no different from the empire once you act like them. In the real world, we might see ourselves as the rebels but who says that we're not the empire and the real rebels are the people we invaded in the name of democracy and freedom while we all knew that national resources were looted and the wrong parties were given financial support which sparked even more division and terror amongst the local population, even locking up those who say the truth (Assange). Anyone, literally anyone can become a rebel or someone who inflicts extreme terror when they go through injustice inflicted by others, especially foreign entities. Saw is a product of his environment, he might be repetitive but his character is as real as it gets. Steela kept him in line, she saw the bigger picture but once he lost her, those uncontrollable feelings only fed his hunger for extreme tactics. Logic is thrown out of the window and the only thing that matters is inflicting damage irregardless of the civilian casualties. That's the irony of men. We're all sad and angry about Techs death being caused by Saw but in reality, from his perspective, it was the Batch that sabotaged his mission. We as the spectators witnessed Tech's story, his highs and his lows but if we never were introduced to his character, we would've cared less for his death. One of my favorite quotes from Tech "Understanding you does not mean that I agree with you" also applies to Saw. His character is so realistic and I understand him but I'd never agree with his actions. Crosshair in the beginning had no doubts when it came to murdering refugees from Saw's camp. People at that time understood Saw's method but we as an audience get attached to the Batch's stories and we are able to see that those methods of Saw are not as justified as he himself claims to be.

Saw Gerrera is super interesting. He's so committed to his cause that he fails to see other possibilities. But ironically he's always so close to being right. Here he could have decimated Imperial leadership by taking out Krennic, Tarkin and Hemlock. Other times he is so close to finding out about the Death Star, or the need to confront the Empire before it gets too strong. He just takes things to the extreme and his unwillingness to compromise leads him down a dark path, same with Luthen perhaps.
But it's pretty interesting insight into isolated rebel cells trying to make a difference but not yet united or willing to come together, just like in real life.

    1. He's alive and surviving on his own.

    3. He died, which normally would be the only logical outcome, but they couldn't find anything other than the goggles. I find it very hard to believe that Tech's body, armor, weapons, etc. would have been completely destroyed yet his goggles remained almost completely intact.

Man, I cried for Tech. Before these episodes I was just thinking about how much I liked Tech as a character and how instrumental he was to every mission. I didn’t think I would get this emotional over him, but this hit hard.
Also, on a personal note, I didn’t know if I was reading too much between the lines here but I really appreciate the subtleties of Tech and how his character kind of seems to be Autistic at times, what with missing social cues, but that it makes him all the more endearing because of it. Another example is when him and Omega are in the cave talking about when Echo left and Tech says “I may process moments and thoughts differently, but it does not mean I feel any less than you.” I thought that was a great explanation Autism in a good learning format. Also another point I picked up on was the fact that, in a sense, Omega has 2 dads, Tech and Hunter, 3 if you include Echo and Wrecker always felt like an older brother. It’s kind of a wholesome way to give more representation to maybe a same sexed parenthood without over complicating things by introducing sexuality into everything and muddying up ppls perspectives. It’s just vague enough that I was able to appreciate it without it causing any issues with certain groups of people. I’d say the Bad Batch season 2 has really surprised me with its episodes and I am looking forward to season 3. I think the writers did a great job with this show, whether I assumed more or not.

I absolutely loved these two episodes! They are now some of my favorites! I felt like everything about them were just so amazing in every aspect. Whether it be the the story, the writing, the action, the emotion or how gripping and tense they were, there episodes just had everything. The soundtrack for these episodes were also fantastic, every score felt so amazing and unique in its way. It feels like they’ve really been stepping up their game when it comes to the soundtrack. And of course, as always, the animation is super beautiful, and stunning, especially in all the establishing shots of the different planets and their environments. The detail put into every scene is just so amazing and just so visually pleasing in every way. It was really awesome to get to see the Bad Batch doing their thing all throughout these two episodes. Sneaking around that Imperial base and taking out any Stormtroopers that stood in their way. I mean Echo literally takes control of a prototype AT-ST in order to free Hunter and Wrecker in the end. It was also cool to get see a Young Director Krennic at that meeting. Especially because of how they momentarily mentioned the Death Star. Then as a huge surprise to me we got to meet Saw Gerrera again. It was so great to finally get to see him in this show again and to see him fighting alongside the Batch, even if it was only shortly. And wow that explosion he caused was massive, it’s too bad that all it did was take out some Stormtroopers and majorly inconvenienced the Batch. Now, I’ve got to talk about Tech’s death. This may be one of (if not the most) emotional and sad moments in this entire show so far. Everything in this scene was just done perfectly. It was incredibly tense (I was worried for him throughout the entire scene all the way up until he actually fell), the score was incredible, it was both monumental and sad. And his last interactions with Wrecker and Omega were so sad and emotional, and his last words to them before his sacrifice were perfect. On top of all that we have to watch as he goes down a seemingly endless fall. But it doesn’t end there, his death hits even harder when Hemlock tosses Hunter Tech’s shattered and broken goggles. Then we see the Batch go back to Cid’s bar, and just as anticipated this whole season, Cid turns them in. I got to be honest I have mixed feelings about this scene because on one hand, she did seem sorry to turn them in as if she regretted the decision But on the other hand she also did turn them in just to get some extra money. Plus throughout the entire scene I so badly wanted to see Hunter shoot her. Also kind of a side note but I liked that they finally went back for AZI and actually took him with them this time. And then, in a shocking turn of events (for me anyway) Omega is captured. To be honest I kind of assumed that she would be, but I didn’t think that they’d end the season that way. They totally caught me off guard with this, but I can’t wait to see where this will lead us when going into next season. Then was see Crosshair and a ton of other Clones strapped down to operating tables in a laboratory. Along with some Clone bodies that are being suspended in big vats. And honestly seeing all of this is really sad, these Clones were soldiers and heros, who were willing to lay down their lives to protect the galaxy. But now they are all being cast aside like used equipment to become nothing more than test subjects for the Empires experiments. But then we get the massive reveal that Omega and Emerie are sisters. This was such a crazy moment that raised a ton of questions for this show. Like is Emerie a defective Clone, was she going to be the original version of Omega, or is she possibly Jango’s real daughter? This honestly felt like this shows own “I am your Father” moment. I can’t wait to see what the remains of the Batch will do in order to get back Omega and Crosshair next season. And I wonder how they will react to what Hemlock has been doing with the Clones at Mount Tantiss. Will seeing what the Empire has done to them make the Batch finally join Rex for the Clone Rebellion? And hey, maybe the next time we see the Bad Batch Echo will finally have an actual mechanical arm rather than a screwdriver. I really love these two episodes so much. They were so fantastic in every aspect and served as both action packed thrillers and as an incredible way to advance the overall story of the Bad Batch series. I am super curious to see where the story will go next and I am super excited for (mostly likely) Season 3. All in all this was such a great series that, despite its ups and downs, I overall really enjoyed and loved getting to watch your guy’s reactions and reviews to them.

I predict that they are totally going to go the Bucky Barnes route with Tech. The scene with the goggles seems like a deliberate misdirection. It's like giving Frodo's shirt to the Mouth of Sauron. lol

In the way of roles in the squad, here is what I always viewed them as:
Hunter- Leader, Scout, and Combat Tactics
    Wrecker- Demolition and Weapons experts
Tech- Technology/gear advancements, combat strategist, and main pilot
    Echo- Communications and espionage
    Crosshair- Hunter/Scout and artillery expert

WOW, this season has had the best damn music!

    Saw Garrera killed Tech!
But I don't really think he's dead. He had a repelling gun and it's possible that his helmet and glasses got knocked off by falling debris.

When this episode started, I was anxious about Tech. Why have the 'goodbye' scene if there wasn't a related storyline. Then when he climbed atop the train I told my son, "Oh no!, they're going to lose Tech!" As soon as he dropped on the cable I knew it, "He's going to cut the line!" (I've seen Vertical Limit). Crazy how a 45-year-old man can get attached to cartoon characters.

I hope not. Would severely cheapen the perfect tone and music for his death scene. And there has to come a point where even a vague height is unsurvivable. They were at the tops of mountains, above the clouds, not to mention the enormous railcar that would've landed on him as soon as he hit the ground.

As someone who is now barely starting to realize I might actually be autistic (im 26) I see so much of myself in Tech. I have always struggled to connect with people emotionally. but like Tech said earlier in the season, that because I process things different than you doesnt mean I feel any less. The goodbye scene with Phee is a perfect.

  • @kwanarchive
    @kwanarchive ปีที่แล้ว

In hindsight, they were telegraphing this the whole season.
We had the Tech centric racing episode.
We had Tech jump after Omega into an abyss without a second thought, even though there was a high chance of immediate death.
We had Tech explain that he loves his siblings, but shows it in other ways.
We had a one-sided love interest for Tech.
Even though Tech seems like the over-analytical sort, he was actually always making the right decisions and doing the right things in the moment. He lives in the moment when required.
I wonder if the Bad Batch series will basically be about the slow demise of the team, which is why we don't see them in the Rebels era.

Here's the thing, Tech is lighter then the monorail car..... Chances are, it falls around him since it's pretty open and if he's quick enough on his feet, so to speak, he might possibly have been able to remove his repelling hook, hold on to the top end of that car, and use the repelling hook closer to the ground if there's any trees or outcrops as the railcar nears the ground.
He'd likely be hurt pretty badly from the sudden jarring from the arrested fall, but he'd live..... Folks with Parachute mishaps have after all.
