The expert for this week’s Masterclass is Dr Swasti Rao. She is Associate Fellow at the Europe and Eurasia Center, Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses.
She has a Master in Politics (sp. IR) and an M.Phil in East Asian Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has completed her PhD in Advanced International Politics from Tsukuba University, Japan. She is a recipient of the Japanese Education Ministry Fellowship (MEXT) in 2011 and also a recipient of the ‘Okita Memorial Scholarship’ in 2010 from ICCR.
She holds an adjunct position at the Tokai University, Japan in the capacity of a foreign collaborator for the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) funded research project on “Civil Society and Urban Governance in Asia, 2020-2025”.

Few corrections:
9:08 Austria Hungary empire was dissolved after WW1.
14:41 Wall was to separate east and west Berlin not to separate east and west Germany. That's why it was called Berlin wall.
12:00 There is a parallel story. US wanted to shock Stalin but Stalin casually reacted in acceptance as he already knew about this progress. KGB spies in Manhattan provided atom bomb blueprints to USSR. US initially predicted that USSR won't be able to make such weapons no sooner than late 1950s but USSR made it in 1949. Many spies were caught and even hanged in USA.
44:01 Sarajevo is capital of Bosnia not Serbia where Austrian prince was assassinated. Bosnia was part of Astro Hungary empire back then. They blamed Serbia for that murder.
40:18 Georgia is also a Caucasus state. Georgia and Azerbaijan fall into greater caucasian region and Armenia and again Azerbaijan fall into lesser caucasian region.
1:22:40 it's myth that it was only USSR who stepped back first during Cuban crisis. It was a mutual deal. USSR removed its weapons from Cuba, in return later US removed it's long range missiles from Turkey and Italy.

I think Lallantop is focusing on the “story telling” part so much that the research, content and attention to detail is taking the back seat.
Look at how casually Saurabh dismisses the typo for “summit” by saying they didn’t have enough time. This was not live breaking news, they could’ve taken some more time to do the due diligence.

@@arnavdutta4485 exactly what I thought. But I believe it is also fine if they are more inclined towards storytelling. Because for majority of us, history and geopolitics are very boring subjects. These minor mistakes can be ignored if they are able to create interest in viewers mind.

It made me spellbound to witness her knowledge and depth over the content. I would like to ask Mr. Sourav for making a program on "least known but highly important topic, like ' Present day real scenario of Chinese political activities, internal as well as external, economic policies in vogue, Chinese Style of Governance in all the Autonomous states living under Chinese occupation'. "
Real picture of the above said contents are very confidential for present day Chinese leadership, sincerely kept hidden from the outside world, like any other 'Communist Autocrats'.
A hidden thing or prohibited aspects had always been an issue of vast curiosity. Very little we get to know due to strict official veil. A little we know from press release of 'Zinhua', snap flashing lines of Western Media. Some truth, some myth, some gossip, some from hearsay unofficial sources.
The Lallon Top should take it as a challenge to prove its Usefulness in Media World by using a statesman-key to unveil facts, as far as practicable.

Therefore, America & UK facilitate India to occupy Goa before Portugal was inducted into NATO. Once Portugal become a member of NATO, all the members of NATO would have joined to push back India from Goa.
UK & USA tipped India(Nehru) to occupy Goa before Portugal was taken into NATO.

You missed 2 momentous events of the cold war - Hungarian Uprising (mid 50s) and Prague Spring (late 60s), where the force of Soviet Union was asserted on Hungary and Czechoslovakia.

Another notable event that ultimately led to USSR disintegration was the Nazi Germany- Soviet union pact (Molotov-Ribbentrop pact) under which Baltic states came under annexation from USSR.
@@7777linpaws The Baltic states were always “special “ within the USSR, and it was almost a given that they would gain autonomy after glasnost and perestroika. The reality is that the union was very artificial, and was bound to dissolve. One thing they did achieve was a common language- Russian - which did nothing for cohesion and unity - a cautionary tale for all the Hindi wallahs who keep bringing up the need to have a “National “ language for India.
She has skipped some details which is understandable since she has a constraint of time.

There are a few glaring inaccuracies in the statements of the Master ji in your Master class on NATO.These are as follows:- 1. it is absolutely wrong to say that NATO when formed consisted of DEMOCRACIES only. Example Portugal. It was ruled by a dictator named Salazor from the beginning of NATO till late sixties of last century. 2. We were more inclined towards USSR not only because of publications of PPH, the help provided by the USSR in building up of our basic infrastructure structure and in liberation of Bengladesh but more importantly because it was not a colonial power like most of the NATO members like France, UK,NETHERLAND, PORTUGAL etc were till about 20 years of formation of NATO. As a result we felt more at home in the company of a non colonial power like USSR. One reason why we could not liberate Goa for over 13 years of our independence was the policy of 'One for All and All for One' policy of NATO. PORTUGAL was not inclined to grant Independence to Goa peacefully. Your Masterni ji though were well read appears to be blind supporter of the West. USA was inimical to India in the beginning which believed in the policy that ' those who are not with us are opposed to us,. John Foster Dulles who was the secretary of state of USA propounded this policy and therefore USA remained inimical to our interest through greater part of the last century.

Dr. Rao's knowledge on topic is exceptional. Some people explain/answer only what being asked them but, Dr. Rao explains like teacher to students to increase / Improve understanding. It is really master ,conducting a class -Masterclass 👍

Then u will be surprised how beautifully madam succeded to mindwash u. Despite all problems many former soviet states are taken into NATO group but why not Russia admitted to NATO.

Namashkar sir, it had really been a great master class giving real feeling of a virtual student n listening all this. Respected Ma'am was in great flow of her insight n even SD sir, was being felt as a student but in the class room. Madam has some key words while in flow which really sounds like a madam in the class n this master class with huge knowledge became a reality.
