- Reviewing how matte and glossy die cut stickers from: StickerApp, Jak Prints, Vinyl Disorder, Rockin Monkey, Sticker Ninja, StickerYou, and Standout Stickers held up after being outside for 8 months. Many of these vendors claim to be weatherproof, waterproof, or UV resistant so I put them all to the test.

The residue ring is the vinyl shrinking back (which reveals the adhesive you're seeing) over time, cheaper vinyl's shrink more than others, but there is (generally) a max amount that the vinyl will shrink, I wouldn't say this is abnormal, it happens with vinyl stickers a lot over time. The curling you're seeing from the stack of stickers is from the vinyl shrinking back to it's original form, which was on the roll. This can happen for a number of production reasons. Not all stickers you've tested here are vinyl, so you'll have varying results over time on how each will last, function, and initially appear. Most will last outdoors 6 months, but the real quality stickers will last for years without any fading. Reading what material each sticker is made with on each site (if they tell you this) and not going off of a rated outdoor life will help the most. Vinyl is generally the most durable, but there are many different types, brands, manufacturers of vinyl. This vinyl choice , linked with the inks the company is using to print the stickers, will all affect how the stickers last, function, etc. over time on different surfaces. A quality vinyl, but ink that isn't designed to be outdoors, is going to have ink fade issues, while the vinyl itself holds on great. It's a definite science to make good stickers!
Thanks so much for the explanation - that makes sense. Interesting that all of the stickers shown are not all vinyl. I think many vendors use the word ‘vinyl’ as marketing jargon because it’s what people search for when looking for die-cut stickers. But it becomes misleading because not every vendor explains exactly what the material actually is. I appreciate you taking the time to explain this - I learned something new today, and I’ll look deeper into the material next time I print too. It's a science for sure!
Although most of this information is accurate, stickers curling is because the manufacturer had too much clutch on the lamination process. The shrinkage of the lamination causes it to curl.

Most don't offer anything more than digital proofs. Some might provide physical proofs if you contacted them with your order. Otherwise, you'd have to find a vendor that offers Pantone matching. You'd probably want to go with Sticker Robot in that case from this lineup as they offer that.
Hello again, just wanted to know if you have tried different websites for selling your stickers that allow you to put them on a printing companies site so they take care of everything for you so others can order direct/ I'm new to this part of it but worked in the sign industry for 40 years. I'm retired now but still design decals, logos and and t-shirts. I now subscribed and following you. Your Awesome.
Hey, thanks so much! :D I'm personally not interested in companies that handle the fulfillment of everything for a few reasons. The main one is quality control. I've never found one that is up to my quality standard or has the option for some of the holographic or glitter effects. The other reason is, I like to have control over how the stickers are packaged, which is not possible with a print+fulfilment company.
Hello Lisa. Thank you for this informative video. I have a question to ask. You have matte and gloss versions. Is that the vinyl or the over laminate?
Thanks for checking it out! For some of these, it's just the vinyl and others are laminated. It's hard to tell the difference by just looking at them. I think most of the ones that are UV-resistant have a laminate of sorts.
i ordered my stickers from sticker app and i accidently left my stickers in my sweater and after letting them dry for an=bout a day or 3 the back of the sticker was slightly damaged but the sticker itself was completly fine all in all i will still go with stickapp 10/10!!!
