Ray Parker, Jr. was also part of the group Raydio (late 70's/early 80's), I believe from Detroit. Jack and Jill was a great jam from back in the day! He had a Greatest Hits album; on there is a cool song called "Girls Are More Fun". His beat will get your blood pumping, that's for sure! Generation X's music was and is the *greatest* music EVER! If it's too loud, you're too old! ❤✌
Chevy Chase/Irene Cara/John Candy/Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie)/Ollie of Ollie and Jerry/Jeffrey Tambor/Al Franken/George Wendt (Norm from Cheers)/Danny DeVito/Carly Simon/Peter Falk/Teri Garr
I absolutely love this song that I was 14 when it came out and my dad took me to this movie for My 14th 🎂 Birthday. I had a crush on Dan Aykroyd so I wanted to go see it and I love this video so much fun Ray Parker was too cool ❤
Hiya gentlemen! The lady that yalp didn't know is Irene Cara. You might remember her from Fame, the tv show. Try her song "What a feeling". It's from the movie Flashdance. ❤ from Oregon
Ghostbusters dropped when I was a junior in high school. Dan Aykroyd was still hot from the success of Trading Places the year before as well as Doctor Detroit which featured James Brown playing at the party at the celebratory end of the film. Bill Murray was cooling off from the success of Tootsie two years before and Stripes the year before that. Ghostbusters was a huge hit at the box office that summer. But from what I recall, what turned the movie into a phenomena was VCR which kept the movie playing in people's homes for years afterward. The theme song was everywhere too for a while until oversaturation diminished its standing as a pop song and it became a sort of jingle for the franchise. At any rate, I was curious to see if I remembered any other songs by Ray Parker Jr. and I did but not by name. He sang in a band called Raydio and they had a top ten hit in 1978 titled "Jack and Jill" and another in 1979 titled "You Can't Change That" that I remember hearing on the radio back then, probably listening to Casey Kasem. Raydio split up and Ray Parker Jr. went solo with the song "The Other Woman" which went to the top ten in 1982, but I don't remember it that well; However, the video for the song is way old school MTV and the ghosts in the graveyard theme suggest a possible reason why Ivan Reitman thought Ray Parker Jr. would be a good fit for the theme of his film. The style of that song is more rock banger and less funky dance track. Ray Parker Jr. later wrote and produced hits for New Edition. Cool.
I read that RP Jr came up with the "who ya gone call" pronunciation, which took it over the top. But he was SUCH a babe, too. I remember when this song was on the radio all the time, it's still on my "boogie down the street" playlist.
I was like 11 year old from Puerto Rico and i ,having sumer vacations whit my NEW YORICAS 🇵🇷💦😎FAMILY IN NEW YORK the best, and i see this movie in the same bullding of the end of the Movie teather in N.Y✌️80's was so MAGIC
Hey fellas I wonder if you'd be interested in giving a listen to Bob Seger, he's from Detroit definitely classic rock and you might even recognize some of his music from a tv show or commercial. (sort of like many other songs from this era get recognized) So if you're interested "Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Like A Rock" (by the channel: Bob Seger) this is a music video, I know sometimes these music videos aren't exactly great but this one (IMHP) is well done and captures the meaning of the song. Enjoyed chilling with you guys' thanks for sharing.

I turned 17 the Summer when this song was a big hit.

Classic song indeed
Lawsuit filed though because he ripped off Huey Lewis and the News I want a New drug.
But it was all settled

Pains me to say this....but that was the late Irene Cara who sung the Fame Theme song and Flashdance What A Feeling.
Ray Parker originally Did The Song. Huey Lewis Wrote I Want A New Drug After Ray Parker Wrote Ghostbusters
MTV HAD TONS OF VIDEOS FROM 1980-2000!!!!👍🏼
Lyrics by Ray Parker, Jr. Music by him, Huey Lewis and Chris Hayes. Controversy. Lewis and Hayes sued RPJ and Paramount for copyright ©️ violation and won in court ⚖ 👨⚖️. The music matched I Want a New Drug, written by Huey Lewis and Chris Hayes in 1983, one year before.
RPJ wrote Mr. Telephone ☎️ Man 👨 for teen singer Junior Tucker. New Edition covered Junior Tucker.
Suggested other video Ray Parker, Jr. sings The Other Woman 👩
I never really cared for the movies but i do like this song along with Bobby Brown's as well
big court case settled out of court for an un disclosed amount in 1984 . the lawsuit that is .
This song got wicked big. No escape from it .. Kinda like don't worry be happy .. Ev the fuk any one knew this !
So Pac-Man Fever has to be next if y’all reviewed the Ghostbusters theme song. #Iaintscaredofnoghost
Ray Parker Jr had to pay Huey Lewis off for stealing this riff from their “I Want A New Drug” song. He pulled a Vanilla Ice..
ALL GUEST CAMEOS ARE NEW YORKERS!!🍎🍎🍎
Ray Parker won that case because Huey sample this
It's the other way around. Ray had to pay Huey. "I Want a New Drug" came out a year before Parker recorded "Ghostbusters."
Ghostbusters is a ripoff of I Want A New Drug by Huey Lewis and the News.
