Thanks for this blast from the past. I grew up on Playa Midjorn in the 70s, had many trips on the Joven Dolores! Lovely to see all my old places again. I haven't been back since 1990.
This is the place I used to go in the eighties. The place I'll love forever. Once upon a time was so cheap. I used to stay a la Fonda Pepe. I hanged out alla day with my lovely red Vespa rally. What a lovely time. Super nice pics, these make me cry....I will go back even if it's different now.
Make sure you do! You find Fonda Pepe on facebook and the same four (!) generations still run it. The island has pockets of incredible wealthy tourism now but the spirit is the same. Fonda Pepe is good value and that wonderful bar is still the same as it always was. Its my favourite place on earth x
I just stumbled on this, and it's interesting to see that others have the same fond memories of Formentera as I do. I spent an unforgettable month there in the summer of 1974, and have often thought of returning. I particularly value my memories of staying in a house with some of Pink Floyd's road crew. It was a stone's thrown from the very same windmill that is featured on Floyd's "More" album. The music in this video captures the mood of the island.
Wow how moving ,only discovered this island 5 years ago ,I love Island life now having lived and worked in some of the finest in the world ,in the UK now ,not exactly island life ,the entire opposite ,but going back again in October ,few brits , though those that do go respect it , it is totally laid back ,non commercial and still has hippy vibes, in season guess most of the residents get out quick ,too many classy stylish Italians coming over ,spending lots of moneeeeeeeeeeeey ,so the markets are booming ! I am 63 ,this place is great if you have the mindset ,otherwise stick to your cruises !
High Markus, i remember my fist way to Formentera through your photos. I used the Joven Dolores too. It was a very slowly boat. Later i take the much faster Tanit. I remenber also the discotheque Magoo. Thanks for the pictures. Kindly Fiete
My first time Formentera 1969 No tourist SUPER cheap and beautiful 💞💞💟
Blissfully exquisitely intensely beautiful in the 60s and 70s
Thanks for the memories. Haven't been back for 50 years (kind of afraid to) but will never forget this place. It changed me.
Went there "only" in 1987 but changed me too. So much. Some places got some peculiar magic.
I just returned from Formentera this week and despite everything that has changed - it is still the place my heart belongs to !

I remember reading somewhere that Floyd went there in the Syd Barrett years.
