Stradman 2017: Paying his life savings to buy a Audi R8. Stradman 2020: Just casually looking to buy a Bugatti. Congrats man! You have achieved success!! Dreams do come true!!
Absolutely makes no sense at all to offer 66000 upfront ! You are signaling drool. Start at no higher than 60 and be prepared to walk away and mean it. Never fall in love and THEN negotiate. Lol.
That dealer does not negotiate. Shopped there a few times and my first time I walked out. They followed up but still didn’t negotiate. A week went buy and the car I wanted sold. They got another xjr in and I ended up getting it later. They rarely budge but the cars they sell are spotless. Their clientele is so large they could care less if you walk.
Strad: Will you do $66,000? Salesman: No... This kids the worst negotiator... You should have started a 65,000 he'd prob come back with no so you go $66,000 and then say that's all you got so you seem despite...so on so fourth... Lesson of this story is DONT TAKE "NO" FOR A ANSWER! cmon strad...
Yup, when i was 19, i bought my car in cash like that to and same shit happened to me. Learned my lesson, you hold the cash, you make the decisions. They don't want to hold on to those cars. I bet if he said ill give you 62k or im out, they would prob have done that too lmfao.
Will you take 66? No... Ok i have 66......No. What will you take?. 69k. Ok i have 66 and a plane ticket home. I can refund it and give you 66,500. They would of caved...
Yep, the game of negotiation is being prepared to walk away from the table. Make an offer and if it's not accepted tell him you will keep the offer live for two hours or the money goes back in the bank.
Totally agree. I would av started the bid off at 65k An probly would av then walked away with 1-2k cash and the r8 but either way atleast he has it now so good luck to him 👍
Never take "No" for an answer and never tell them at the beginning the most you will offer because that's what they are wanting the most they can get out of you. That car didn't cost them 69K they probably made 10K off of you. They definitely could have taken 66 or 67 for it they won't want too but they would if you threatened to walk away. I got about 4 K off asking price when I bought my last car and that's after I threatened to walk away it's amazing what they'll accept when YOU won't go any higher they are the ones who need to sell the car more than you need to buy it.
You need to think about your negotiation technique. Too fast to counter when you got shut down at 66K. You had 68K in a backpack... you needed to show it and then walk it out of the showroom, then let him explain to his boss how he let you walk away. When you get the call, then YOU control the deal. Negotiation means nothing if you are not prepared to walk away from a deal and not look back.
Thing is he probably didn't want to wait so long to get the car because 1. He needs to upload something 2. He can't spend that much time in Texas I'm pretty sure.
not really.. 99% of people refinance the second they get out of the dealership(if theyre smart) lol. i remember when i bought my first car, i asked him, if he dropped the price of it down 5k, and raised my %'age, would that be okay and he looked at me kinda dumb but he said sure! gave me a 7% interest rate... i left that day with car, and the next day i went to my credit union and refinanced for a 4.8% lol. (used car)
Cell Phones ,yeah he should have told the sales man to make the offer to the sales manager, doesn't understand it's all a game, and the extra cash probably went right in the sales man's pocket
Wait. So he carries around $68,000 in cash and starts the negotiation at $66,000? What was the point of the cash if the negotiating power was gone after the first offer?
B Mcl **Unsure if he’s selling his Gallardo or not** Really really pointless when he owns a 2006 Gallardo that sounds better and only has 22bhp less, unless he gets 2013 V10 Plus with the S Tronic gearbox but that would cost a lot more than this 2008 V8.

I have a feeling he got an automatic because he's in the process of beginning his exotic car rental company. It's easier for clients to drive an auto, which would prompt the need for it over a manual. It would also explain why he purchased it outright, instead of financing it (unless he got approved for a loan that big). I don't think insurance would cover a business lean like that.
Or a Lotus. Hell theres tons of nicer cars for under 60k. Could've had money left over to customize something else. Thats just me though. I love R8s but that was kinda a bad deal. Would've only paid 60k max.

Disclaimer for younger impressionable viewers out there: Don’t drop 68 grand cash on a depreciating asset if you can avoid it. Even if your cash flow is quite positive, a smart move is to keep as much as you can to have available for investments, savings, opportunities etc. In reality, the R8 is an investment for The Stradman as it will bring viewers to his channel and make him money. Just something to keep in mind.
