I see a lot of young people commenting. This is very very inspiring and gives me much hope. I have begun to reflect on Lee Morgan a great deal as well as the very sad state of these United states. I have recently thought that Donald trump American racism and the pandemic creates the perfect storm to finally destroy musicianship. An example of this is Orwell’s “‘‘‘twas only a passing fancy” composed by a computer alogorithm and blared though the projects in Oceania. I can’t say how much hope it brings me to see coverts to the resistance of Hard Bop. If you enjoy this music please read Rosenthals history of Hard Bop and Blue Note.
