CSX is in terminal decline. employee morale is in the toilet. backstabbing is rampant. the union is worthless. everyone wants out NOW. assets are being sold off. that which can not survive will not. management has contempt for the workers. and then they brought in EHH, then foote. yes, i am former csx employee,,,(get your picks now of csx, they will not be around much longer in their current form)
I hate CSX. They brought an end to the L&N. I've recently fallen for the Chessie System paint scheme because of how unique the livery was. They've also had quite a few derailments in about a 12 to 14 month period in my area. Norfolk Southern also runs in my area, and I've never heard about them having a derailment on this line. CSX has terrible PR at the very least.
See now, THIS is what ticks me off about CSX. NS did it right. CSX didn't! Instead of just sitting in museums, pulling excursions, those heritage engines ... C&O, B&O, Chessie, I remember them all so clearly ... as well as the ACL, SCL, the ones I'd love to see now that I'm down here in Florida but ain't gonna get to see because CSX had to go slap blue and gray and yellow paint all over every friggin' thing; and then put those sillyass little stickers on them. Those heritage units should still be rolling the rails in their original livery, would it have killed them to do that?? NS has this beautiful stable of heritage engines for all the railroads they merged in. CSX has stickers. 😠😠😠 Sorry for the rant ... 😠
Yes and no. Acknowledging the hard working employees of the past who built a company, with a commemorative paint scheme, is never a bad thing and helps build company pride.
I really hope Precision Scheduled Railroading comes to an end in North America. And hopefully a new CEO will get hired at CSX (One with a higher IQ than the people that listen to Gucci gang a.k.a the worst song of 2017) And probably do something that might be better than what it is now because CSX has fallen apart way too much over the years. I’ve kinda seen it too. Aspects of it falling apart on the Kanawaha Sub Division I use to see lots of action at the Russell yard (Apart of the Kanawaha sub) and I missed seeing them kick the cars. Then, after the layoffs in 2016 and PSR in and around 2017 it’s just not the same anymore and it’s just sad really.
Named our tabby kitten Chessie.
Trains and the dad from one of my favorite 80s show, what a great combo! Excellent video!
Whoever decided to replace Chessie with dull gray and block CSX should be shot!
terry boyer yes indeed
Csx is my favorite railroad

hell, i was in contact with a former chessie V.P. in 1996.
he hated the merger of seaboard. had nothing good to say about the merger.
@@jeffreymcfadden9403 so now i have to go to norfolk southern?
I have the Chessie System Life Like GP- 38. It's old, but a good runner. Didn't cost much, but a very nice rendition!
I also have one from the 80's which I only get out once or twice a year! Great loco!
My brother has an Chessie pillow
I had a cat named "Chessie" from 1977-1990, named for this one.
As did I in the late 80's.
B&O 3802 Trains Magazine All-American Diesel 1982! Chessie, the cat that didn't have 9 lives! Long live the cat!
i photoed 3802, in service,,,in the late 1980s in hamilton,ohio.
“It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!”
Chessie is still technically the mascot of CSX, but she doesn't appear on any merchandise or advertising anymore.
True
Chessie was the best
What a GREAT STORY!
The Locomotive at 4:40 looks ALOT like the O-Gauge GP-7 that I had as a kid.
That's because they are both the same locomotive, although the Lionel model has the wrong cab.
That’s GP40-2 or GM50
And my grandmother has a cat that looks like chessie

railroads aren't here for your enjoyment. go to a railroad that has historic locomotives in operation if you want to see those

Some boxcars still bear the Chessie logo.
Dad works for CSX
Restore 2101
CrazyBear65 yes indeed
Restore them all!
I don’t like these comments, if you want it sooooooo much, why aren’t you in Baltimore helping them?
The music overwhelms the narration. Otherwise, great video.
It's Burt Gummer!😮
