- In this video I am going to show you how to use oven cleaner to remove anodizing from aluminum bike parts in order to get a polished or raw silver look! 🪩 Easily remove the anodizing from your bike's stems, cranks, and pedals, and make your bike components look brand new. My OneUp aluminum pedals have been great the last few years but I’ve always thought they would look better in polished silver so they would match my anodized silver stem. Then one day it dawned on me that I could probably get the black anodizing off, polish them and they would match! In today’s video I’m going to show you what I did, how much it costs and tell you if I think it was worth it!

Thanks Nick!!! I'm thinking of doing the same to my stem, pedals and some other oarts
That would look awesome! I’d say go for it! 🤙Thank you for watching, Martin!
Hey nice job. Chrome is so good.
Thanks man! Pretty stoked on how it came out!
Best way to remove paint from your pedals; Ride on the East coast for a week and boom! You hit enough rocks that your pedals no longer have paint or pins on them😂
On gang yo! Cranks are halfway there as well 😂
Recently bought a gray '21 Commencal Meta HT with misc blue accent parts on it. Didn't want blue and the parts were nicer, so I'm stripping them as I watch this. Wish me luck.
Nice man! Silver accents ought to look great with the gray! Best of luck! 🤙
Man!!!! I’ve just finished painting black then crome, then 2k Clear coat on 3 handlebars,2 seatpost, ,2 sets of bike pedals and a few other bits for 2 bike Builds. I wanna cry!!! Over 100£ on paint material plus much longer time spend than trying removing the anodized. Am about to start putting together the bikes just to undo all what what done . Looks nothing like polished
I was thinking about doing this and bumped into your video. How'd they look down the road?
They still look good! Could maybe use a light polish to get them back to how they looked at the end of this video but I’m still pretty happy with how they look! I’d say go for it!
wtf im vibin when you sing hahahha
I would love to take credit here but that was not me singing hahahaha
Hey Nick, any update on how the pedals are holding up? Do they still look good? Thinking of finally trying this
Yeah man they still look great! I thought I would have to constantly polish them or coat them with something to keep the shine but I was surprised they still have a good shine after a year of riding.
Sometimes aircraft coating remover works awesome to remove paint and anodizing. With oven cleaner I soak parts for 24 hours, followed by soapy sos pads, this should have parts looking polished and to keep the polished look a little gloss clearcoat paint helps. Keep shredding 🤙
Thanks for the tips! I think I might add some clear coat. Would really be nice to keep them looking fresh for as long as possible! Thanks for watching! 🤙
How are they holding up after a few months. Have they corroded or still looking good. Want to do this to my rims.
They still look as good as the day I finished them! 👍
think this would work on 1up Oil slick colorway pedals ?
Not sure if they are anodized the same way as the other colors. I would think they probably are, but I’m not entirely sure. If you do it, definitely report back! 👍 Wish I could be more of a help on this and thanks for watching!
I managed to get anodising off with oven cleaner. However paint stripper, oven cleaner and even caustic soda couldn’t remove the paint off my crankarms 🥴
That’s odd! I wonder why. 🤔 What make and model crank arms are they?
Do you think anodizing srams brake clamp will work?
If it’s just the brake clamp and not the actual lever then I don’t see why it wouldn’t work! 👍
Why could the lever be a problem?
Don't buy mr muscle for this. It has certain type of owen cleaner to work.
Good to know! Thanks for the additional info. 👍
