You are one seriously talented man! One person doing everything from stripping the paint to leather coachwork all the way down to drawing and cutting out the plywood door trims.. impressive! I wish I had your skills.
I learned most of the skills for this build as I went. I truly believe that anyone could do it if they were motivated to give it a go, and take your time. Get out an try it, I think you would surprise yourself.
As a professional Porsche restorer these types of videos are funny to watch, all the beginner mistakes made, incorrect materials from the hardware shop, it is great to see the process of the DIY-er and all the hard work as I am usually the one in a few years who yanks all this custom junk off the car and throws it in the bin as we do the restoration properly the next time.
Hi Jeff, Another great video in the Series. Re trimming a car is not easy as I know, and made much harder, by sewing fabric to leather, rather than sewing the same material together. You done well there and the results look great. When the new order of purple tartan cloth arrives, cut out and run up a skirt on your sewing machine, for Mrs Jeff to model, on the next fun facts!
Great work Jeff once again, nice to see a colourful car. Down here in Melbourne all the cars are black grey or white...boring. Very humid down here too these days.
Thanks mate. As I have said to others. The only way I get more subscribers is if you guys spread the word on Forums and other Social media. The more sub's I get gives me the motivation to do more videos ;)
oh bugger me, now i have found your channel i am going to have to go and catch up from the beginning before i go any further. very entertaining and informative sir, well done
Haha, you have a lot of viewing ahead of you then. I had a look at your channel. Great work. I love your energy and enthusiasm. Makes it fun to watch, and who knows, maybe I will build a Mini one day. I have always liked them, but never owned one.
Jeff, those door card buttons fit into a keyhole shaped hole in the door card. Fat end of the hole big enough for the head of the pin, slides along an sits in the panel
Absolutely love the color scheme! Looking forward to seeing the whole interior done. Giving me lots of ideas about the trimming I'm going to have to do on my project. Keep up the great work and don't melt in the heat.
Looks great Jeff! When you put the inside door handles in can I suggest you put them at the same angle as the originals and not straight like everyone else does? So much easier for the passenger to hold onto during spirited drives.
You know, I didn't notice the purple Porsche lettering on the door. I love it! Purple and orange is one of my favorite combinations; in fact, my house is purple and orange.
Purple and Orange house would be interesting ;). The small outer racing stripes are also purple if you hadn't seen that. It is hard at the moment as the car is dusty from sitting.
You're definitely no coward when it comes to color choices. Looking foreward to see when it all comes together. Hope your shoulder is well. We had -15 degrees C here in Austria last week. Funny to see sombody sweat....Compliments to your capabilities as cuter and editor, Your timing is excelent! This is professional quality!Take care!peter
I am continually trying to improve the quality of the videos. I can still see a lot of places I would like to improve, but I will keep working on it.Thanks.
Great work as usual! I was thinking during the video that I wish you had time to do more videos. I am also excited about your Datsun build! Someone with the means should fund your own tv-show! Keep it up! /Peter form Sweden
Thanks Peter. I am happy doing what I am doing at the moment. TV shows I think get tied up in the production, etc, so they can't get out as much content anyway (you would get less videos ;) ).
congrats on the interior! kudos for being brave enough to tackle it. by the way i admire your sense of style. how about a mrs. jeff segment on the origin of porsche's tradition of using tartan patterns in the trim. i note that mercedes also has as well.
No, I don't think so. They are roughly cut. As someone else reminded me, those clips usually go into a keyhole shaped cut out. I have seen them before but I forgot about that.
Great work Jeff, really enjoying watching you do this, and it gives me inspiration for my ongoing Audi build. Good on you for doing everything yourself! One comment on this video, the music was a bit loud compared to you speaking so I found myself tweaking the volume up and down all the time.
Another great vid mate, well done. Feeling this heat lately myself down in the Gong! Don't listen to the nay sayers on the colour choices, it is working out great. I still think the wheel centres should be purple as well! Cheers.
Love the purple tartan, adds to the one off custom look of the car...i think it'll all tie in great once the rest of the trim is done then it won't stick out like dogs balls as it does with just the door cards on.
Tobacco leather and purple tartan 😨😭?? Hmm, I suppose its one way to keep Mrs. Jeff out of the drivers seat when the cars finished 😉. Seriously though very good episode Jeff. Well done! [jeez, those colours, seriously. No one, I mean no one, will ever steal it].
Great work Jeff, can't say I am a fan of the interior combo, if I had it my way it would be black on black on black, but I sure can appreciate how much work you have put in and how good the result is for a relative novice! Any updates on the engine?
Engine is still being sorted. Most orange cars go black black interiors, but that is too boring for me, and it would look like every other black interior ;)
love watching the rebuild Jeff. how is the spray contact going, I find using brush on f2 and putting it through an old spray gun work the best!! love ya work.
I was looking at that, and I agree it needs some tweeking. I will see what it looks like when it is all in, and I amy change the carpet over to something that matches the colour of the leather instead of black. But I will stick with this for the time being.
It's looking great and will be totally your car at end. I think it's great that you show your mistakes and do overs. I struggled painting some interior bits of my car. It's your channel and all but please lose the Mrs Jeff part. Perhaps she could get her own channel?
Jeff, I am in the planning stages to make some door cards for my Alfa, as the old ones are well and truly hacked up with speaker holes etc. I am curious about why you chose MDF for the cards, and what other materials you considered for the cards, and the reasons. I am thinking aluminium, although I am worried about noise. Nice video.
I chose MDF mostly because it was the most convenient thing to use, and I didn't put much more thought into it. I think Aluminium would work ok as long as you are covering it and making sure it doesn't physically touch the door, otherwise it would probably rattle.
Do not really know what to say about the decor Mats & Carpets work but was not well done as textile person myself. The next person will have alot work to remove all the glue from the floor and replace the carpet and the rest im sure they will. But the rest of the car looks amazing cheers.
In a later episode I change them all over to black carpets, as it just works much better with the theme. As for the glue, it didn't really work and it is much easier to get off than what was on there originally. Cheers.
Hey Jeff. I have loved everything you've done on the car until this episode. I don't want to rain on your parade but if I were you I'd go either tan or black, not both. For me it's too much with the purple tartan. But if we all liked the same thing the world would be a boring place eh?
I've been watching your channel for a while now... but I must agree... black leather, saddle-tan leather and PURPLE in an orange porsche? I'm still not sold... hehehehe... :p But I still enjoy your videos Jeff! Love the build!! Much love from Indonesia :)
I actually think the black top portion ties in nicely with the dash - which is obviously going to stay black, and the pillar trim. Otherwise would be tan overdose. Can't wait to see the finished result.
Hi Jeff, Keep up the Great Videos! Had to ask, who did you source your hide from? I've done some research myself and getting a few quotes but I'm still unsure of what I should be looking for. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you your videos have helped drop my project into 4th gear!
Home Built By Jeff So did you just add thickness as needed, or did you just get lucky on your first try? I’m currently working on making door panels and a center console, but I’m using a fairly thin material (maybe 3mm thick) for lightweighting purposes, and I think I’m going to end up just having to use glue
jeff why put the sound deadening on the door panel? why not on the inside of the door? seems like it would work better there and make the trim panel l;ighter and easier to work with
I have the Butyl rubber stuff in the door, but if you saw my sound deadening episode I talked about the layers. That is the best way I could put a solid layer of MLV over the door.

Haha, I was thinking of more a skirt (Kilt) for me ;)
Great idea..... looking forward to seeing you modelling the tartan kilt and Mrs Jeff in the skirt!
Amazing Jeff. That colourway is as bespoke as it gets. Looking forward to seeing the end result!
Thanks mate.
Your "not perfect" is my "Everybody come see how awesome I am!" Loving these videos Jeff!
Thanks mate.
Love the use of vintage leather Jeff. Always wondered why more people don't trim classic cars in it.
Great work Jeff once again, nice to see a colourful car. Down here in Melbourne all the cars are black grey or white...boring. Very humid down here too these days.
That twin sink cabinet is gona look real nice
Haha. Someone is paying attention to the background ;)
cool the sewing lines look very nice soon you will be making miss jeff some dresses.
I've watched them all and that was one of the best yet Jeff.
Thanks mate. I have a new camera from this episode, so hopefully it starts looking better too.
I don't know how you haven't got more subscribers. This is one of, if not the best build I have followed on TH-cam. Inspirational stuff mate!
Thanks mate. As I have said to others. The only way I get more subscribers is if you guys spread the word on Forums and other Social media. The more sub's I get gives me the motivation to do more videos ;)
Jeff, great job with the trim!
Thanks mate.
oh bugger me, now i have found your channel i am going to have to go and catch up from the beginning before i go any further. very entertaining and informative sir, well done

Well done mate, the door cards are looking great.
Jeff, those door card buttons fit into a keyhole shaped hole in the door card. Fat end of the hole big enough for the head of the pin, slides along an sits in the panel
Ahhh, of course they do. I had forgotten that. I haven't played with old wooden door trims for so long, thanks.
Absolutely love the color scheme! Looking forward to seeing the whole interior done. Giving me lots of ideas about the trimming I'm going to have to do on my project. Keep up the great work and don't melt in the heat.
Thanks mate.
Looks great Jeff!
When you put the inside door handles in can I suggest you put them at the same angle as the originals and not straight like everyone else does?
So much easier for the passenger to hold onto during spirited drives.
I have some different ideas for the door hardware which I will reveal in a later video ;)
***** I realized that later. I like that theme you have going
you deserve so much more subscribers
i discovered your channel last week, already watched all this series
The only way I can get more Sub's is if you guys spread the word. Sharing it on forums, etc. Glad you are enjoying it.

Great going Jeff! Love the color combination as well...
Thanks mate. I think it should all work together nicely.
I cant wait to see the interior! The colour combo is gonna look great, very different
Porsche themselves did vey similar out there things back in the 70's.
great work jeff
That waxy leather!!! Sweet
love the colour! you'll need a Jackie Stewart style helmet to match when you're at the track.
I will paint up a helmet to match when I get to that point ;)
They came up well mate. That pin three guide on top of the machine.....only go through one hole, not in one and out the other. ☺️
Thread guide!!
Sweet. Thanks for the tip. I might have some questions for you for some other stuff I have planned.
I had a pig of a time changing over the thread and getting the tensions right, etc. Was tearing my hair out for a while ;)
i was skeptical at first but that looks really good
Thanks mate. I think it works with the rest of the car.
Great work as usual! I was thinking during the video that I wish you had time to do more videos. I am also excited about your Datsun build! Someone with the means should fund your own tv-show! Keep it up! /Peter form Sweden
from Sweden, of course...
That is a good thought. I will get Mrs Jeff to look into it ;)
I think those notches are in the design !,
No, I don't think so. They are roughly cut. As someone else reminded me, those clips usually go into a keyhole shaped cut out. I have seen them before but I forgot about that.
Greetings from Mexico!
This car should be a beaut if you take it to the Panamericana!
Nice job on the door trims 👍🏻 keep up the good work 👍🏻
Great video
awesome, by far the best 911 show on youtube! keep it up mate :)
Thanks mate.
Fwaah nice Jeff awesome stuff 😀
Jeff, cars looking great!
Great work Jeff, really enjoying watching you do this, and it gives me inspiration for my ongoing Audi build. Good on you for doing everything yourself!
One comment on this video, the music was a bit loud compared to you speaking so I found myself tweaking the volume up and down all the time.
Yes, sorry about that. I have a new camera, and I and still trying to get the levels right. It is a work in progress ;)
Another great vid mate, well done. Feeling this heat lately myself down in the Gong! Don't listen to the nay sayers on the colour choices, it is working out great. I still think the wheel centres should be purple as well! Cheers.
Haha, the wheel centres is a bit far for me, but it could work.
Love the purple tartan, adds to the one off custom look of the car...i think it'll all tie in great once the rest of the trim is done then it won't stick out like dogs balls as it does with just the door cards on.
That is what I think, but a lot of people are not liking it at all. We will see, when it is done I suppose.
Hey Jeff, the austrialian heat wave even made it to the austrian news .. ;-)
Top job!
nice job
Well done with the doorcard, i'm still not sold with the orange and purple together but hope I will be turned around in the end. :)
Thanks mate. Hope I can change your mind when it is done, but if we all liked the same stuff the world would be a boring place ;)
Mad interior!
Hahaha. Not for you it seems.
Home Built By Jeff I love the leather colour but not with a gulf orange and purple body. Pay me no attention, I am an old fart.
AWW YISSS another porsche video.. Gotta grab some popcorn!
Haha, enjoy.
***** I've always wanted to do custom stuff like door cards but my ford is too nice and original to be chopped and customized...
Great work Jeff, can't say I am a fan of the interior combo, if I had it my way it would be black on black on black, but I sure can appreciate how much work you have put in and how good the result is for a relative novice!

love watching the rebuild Jeff. how is the spray contact going, I find using brush on f2 and putting it through an old spray gun work the best!! love ya work.
Thanks for the tip. The spray adhesive is working well for the moment, but is expensive at $20 a can.
Hey jeff great job really like your project how is the engine coming along it looked nasty when it was taken apart
I am still working out the details with the engine but hopefully I will have an update for you soon.
I love the colour combination, but my personal opinion is that the carpet needs to be black. That will make the leather and the tartan pop a bit more.
I was looking at that, and I agree it needs some tweeking. I will see what it looks like when it is all in, and I amy change the carpet over to something that matches the colour of the leather instead of black. But I will stick with this for the time being.

Absolutely get it. I am not a fan of Tan dash pads as they cause a lot of glare.
I've been watching your channel for a while now... but I must agree... black leather, saddle-tan leather and PURPLE in an orange porsche? I'm still not sold... hehehehe... :p
But I still enjoy your videos Jeff! Love the build!!
Much love from Indonesia :)

I got mine direct from a wholesaler who doesn't sell to the public, sorry.
Hey Jeff, how did you ensure that the staples didn’t break through the front side of the panel and into the fabric?
By testing the length of them in some scrap first.
Home Built By Jeff So did you just add thickness as needed, or did you just get lucky on your first try? I’m currently working on making door panels and a center console, but I’m using a fairly thin material (maybe 3mm thick) for lightweighting purposes, and I think I’m going to end up just having to use glue

thanks great build I have 3.2 Carrera stock
luv it
Did you put some 'dynamat' patches inside the doors?
Yep
Why don’t you install air conditioning in your shop?
I have a small portable a/c in my 2 car garage and it let’s me work comfortably.
My garage is pretty big. A small portable A/C is not going to help much.
I said add air conditioning.
Typically, nothing I've seen in a can will bond vinyl permanently.
Those pillars would not give me any confidence in a rollover event, they are so tiny.
Amazon
With everything you did please don't put in a stock engine
