I stopped using my hardware set up,two samplers, synths, drum machines, sequencer, mixer, hard drive recorder-Because I can make tunes all day, wherever I am,and the Koala workflow encourages creativity and output. This update delights me,amazing.
I just bought koala and your videos are helping me a lot to get to know this program. I discovered a couple of fun things as well: If you are in the piano roll and selected a couple of notes, you can press the chance or velocity button to change all simultaneously. Also, my arturia minilab mk2 is working via usb, directly to my android phone! And I can map the "perform effects" to the rotary knobs 😁
@@nervouscooks I know. That's the first thing all the Live Chat asked and I saw Marek's face drop slightly! It took him ages to create it. I'm just happy I got what I always asked for, which was to be able to have mono and glide on a tone for bass lines. I wish we could also have it with samples too, but hey. And that short tone you chose was probably the worst to demonstrate the glide as it wasn't a continuing tone. Much bendy West Coast Hip Hop top synth lines to be had in the future! Hoorah. Oh, and btw. Wanted to say for a while. Will edit after. 1/8th is said as an eighth note; 1/16th is said as a sixteenth. It isn't one eight note or one sixteen note, it's eighth and sixteenth. And a 1/4 note is a quarter, not one fourth note.
This is amazing! Thank you for the rundown! Koala is already such a powerful creative tool, but this makes being able to "sketch" out melodic ideas on the go that much easier! Especially for me, since I'm still getting used to sample-based writing, sometimes if I need to get an idea out quick, being able to call up a ready-made synth and tap out a melody, the samples can take me out of it a bit.
@@nervouscooks You didn't miss much at Koala Creative Community, Marek just made the announcement and then the updates dropped. Which was pretty cool though. And his angle on people complaining or wanting more daw-like features was essentially "If you like Koala, use it. If you don't like it, use something else." Which I was happy to hear! As it leaves the complainers to work out their own 'logic'. Yeah, I hoped you'd be one of the first to get a video out mate, apart from Elf Audio's synchronised with last night's announcement. 👍 And I have no friends who use Koala so I had to tell someone! 😂
He has outdone himself. I found it easier to put a few notes in a sequence and adjust the dials live. It has a built in wirk flow. You can put a sample in a sequence, add a synth note and adjust the sound from left, osc, to right, preset in live time. Also, when you save a preset, it prompts a random name so you don't have get stuck trying to think of something before hitting enter. I didn't get the built in presets for some reason, but I'm not gonna sweat that.
A comrade came to me asking what was an affordable sampler to buy and i told them Koala can do almost anything and is super intuitive and easy. They wanted hardware so suggested SP404 which now is compatible with Koala too. Amazing Sampler App
Agree, I replaced my MPC Live 2 with Koala because I enjoy the minimal workflow. Sample, arrange, effects and shines it most of these categories. I would rather see improvements to what is already strong.

the bang for your buck on this app is insane

The beauty of landscape mode with the synth is that you can access all tabs via an x/y pad sort of interface.
@@thekeysman6760 yeah I think that’s the better layout for sure! Be nice to see the parameters midi mappable. 🙂

That background/skin is CRAZY nice on your Koala app. Anykne know where to get some perfectly fit to the app skins like this one?
Would you ever consider making a small tutorial on how you make your koala back grounds?
Well, what is the advantage of adding a synth to a sampler, while there are already so many great synth apps around?
