    Greg I love listening to you. Could you maybe touch on the mineral feeder a little more unless I've somehow missed it or you teach it in your grazing school. Like what kind of minerals do you use for cattle and sheep and what mineral they put the cayenne pepper and cinnamon in for the goats? Thanks for all the videos and the extra work you do just to give us all the videos. Hope you understand how much we all appreciate everything you do and the knowledge you share.

    Also, what about following the goats with pigs as a step two?

      I just started my channel in earnest in January of this year. I just want to share with folks what we are doing that works on our farm. Every farm is different and the things that I do may need to be modified in a different environment. I am giving folks ideas of things that might make their farm more profitable. The personal emails of thanks that I get from my youtube viewers is much appreciated! I want more people to come back to the land to help heal it with good grazing management.

  • @davenpjp10
    @davenpjp10 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good info!
    I would also stick with the poultry fencing. Less likely to get head stuck in it compared to the sheep/goat fencing.

    • @mikecanaday5731
      @mikecanaday5731 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joel Davenport
      If the fence is working correctly, eight thousand volts and up there are no goats even near the fence. Poultry netting is hard to keep from sagging and when it is sagging it loosest lots of power. Electro stop pos only would be correct fencing for goats.

    • @davenpjp10
      @davenpjp10 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have seen a lot of people suggest the poultry netting due to the strangulation risk.
      I had an experience when i first started using the netting that had a goat strangle and die.
      I now test the fence every day and make sure it is at 8000 volts. I wasn’t doing daily checks on voltage when the goat died, but I think it could have played a role. I also only had them encircled inside one fence and now I try to give them a lot bigger space. Never know what might spook them at night time If you don’t have appropriate shelter or some sort of LGD.
      Also learning all the little things that can short the fence is huge. I found out some of the fencing can slip and the bottom wire will short out on the bottom post. I have started just cutting my bottom line so this doesn’t happen.
      I have sagging in my goat fence just as much as the poultry netting. I add extra fence posts in sagging area

    • @goatsdoingstuff
      @goatsdoingstuff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer the poultry netting because it's more versatile for me. I use it with my goats, geese & chickens. Just as easy for a goat to get tangled up in the poultry netting if it isn't good and "hot" tho. I've had it happen. Thankfully I was able to get to the goat in time. If I don't hear the snap then I test the netting. Once they are property trained they rarely go near it. Imo the best fence is food tho. Keep the goats in a place where there is plenty of what they WANT to eat and they won't even look elsewhere In my experience.

    1) how to manage cattles/sheep when owner or shepherd falls ill ?
    2) How shepherds cowboys enjoy recreational activities like visiting friends and fun places.?
    Note: abve questions are in situation when owner is alone to start the busuiness or is at primary stage.Or is it manageable to hire labour force to run the farms etc?

    • @swamp-yankee
      @swamp-yankee 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a some goats that I keep with my sheep. They seem to coexist just fine. Not sure it would make sense to chuck pigs in the mix since they need supplemental feed, and the ruminants do not. That said I do have a piglet who is younger than the rest of my pigs and was getting beat up who is temporarily living with my rams, so anything is possible. If you develop a sheep/goat/pig grazing system please post a video.
