Today we are checking out a couple accessories from a company called Grovemade. Now Grovemade and I partnered together in the past for a variety of accessories to spice up the creative vibes on my desk ( • Minimalist Desk Access... ); however, you may recall in that video that I mentioned some items were missing from that shipment.
That brings us to today's video. Here is the second half of that shipment, which includes the Grovemade Task Knife and Grovemade Matte Desk Pads (Grovemade Matte Desk Mats). These things are simply stunning! They're made of natural linoleum is made from linseed oil, pine rosin, wood flour, and calcium carbonate-They're durable, antistatic, resists fingerprinting, and is totally natural. Yes I know, I said they were leather... And I totally thought they were due to the grain-like pattern on the topside. In this case, I stand corrected and they are in fact linoleum; however, Grovemade does offer other desk mats made of leather, felt, and more! All their desk pads feature a cork base for durability, scratch resistance, and stabilization for all surfaces.

@@qwazyd0gg Well my experience is based around their deskpads and I tried them twice and both times just had to toss them out because they would warp. I said oh maybe if I buy the more expensive pad the quality would be better...lol...played myself.These were the leather pads. Complete shame tbh. Especially at the price point. And zero communication from grovemade themselves after contacting them.
Man, that’s so unfortunate. Again, so far so good for both my pads and my mat; however, I’ll keep a continuous eye on them going forward.

Its the first thing people need before you address quality.
1. What are measurements of the mat?
2. What are measurements of the desk its sitting on?
3. What fits within the space of the mat?
1. 26.5inch x 49inch
2. 28inch x 55inch
3. Short answer… everything that fit on my desk. This keeps my desk protected from coffee/drink rings, scratches, dents, and keeps it comfortable. Currently using it everyday as my home office desk with a laptop riser, keyboard, mouse, MacBook, iPad, device chargers, power cube, notebook, and embarrassing amount of junk. Previous to this it was my glare free review table mat that kept shine and hot spots to a minimum from studio lights and provided a clean and uniform backdrop.

Why do I need a desk pad?
I find it convenient to protect the entire topside of my desk. I have my standing desk in the middle of my room and use it from both sides. Having the extra surface area is very helpful

One other thing MATE Do you know the company you are promoting is grossly over priced.
It’s all based on value to the purchaser honestly. Lots of cars and PCs are over priced but yield value to some.

Nice video m8, any fingerprints sticking around on these pads? I'm contemplating getting one, my desk has a super glossy finish and the fingerprint marks it leaves are really annoying
They’re nice and matte so nothing stays around for any more than a couple seconds. If I forget to grab one of my cup holders, I can easily wipe down the surface with no rings left behind either.
Damn, it cost like 1k just for these desk mats. Lol
They’re not cheap, that’s for sure. Honestly though mine is still going strong like day one. It’s super durable and easy to keep clean.
Is this matte version good for gaming mouse tracking? It doesnt snag the mouse at all?
Not that I’ve noticed. My Razer Basilisk runs great on it!
he was struggling using the mouse on that matte pad..... then he pulled out that leather mousepad. lol.... I sense stickiness all over trying to run the mouse on it.

How soft is it? Can I write on a single sheet of paper without puncturing it with the pen?
I haven’t had any issues writing on mine. Of course I wouldn’t push terribly hard; however, you don’t have to intentionally be soft on it either.
Are these the blue color or black? It almost looks like a in between on video for some reason

I game on mine without issue. Depending on how intense you are though, I would have concerns about wearing down the material over time.

Do the edges curl over time?
Mine hasn’t at all yet on my medium or large desk mats. They’re quite thick so I don’t suspect they will in the future either unless they were to get say extreme wet, then maybe dry out and curl due to shrinkage or something.

Hey, nice review. But as you said you really need a light in the front to show the items. You say the matte desk mat has some texture to it and you use a mouse mat on top of it, so I was wondering, do you think it is possible to use the mat as a mouse pad for competitive gaming? I always used frabic mouse pads without looking too much into it, I have no idea how different material could affect the mouse movement.
For competitive gaming I would say no. I use my largest desk pad without an additional mouse pad and tracking isn’t terrible, but it’s not quite gaming accurate.
Please answer this straight for me. I've been trying to get an answer out of Grovemade but they're too general. Which is better for writing on a single piece of paper with pen, the leather or the matte?? I do a lot of letter writing and I don't want it damaged in a day. Please be truthful and explain specifically in your answer. Please, please answer asap as I'm going crazy trying to decide which to order. I had to return a (cheap) leather pad because it made my pen drag and my hand felt strained, my writing got messed up). But please give me some help here: (Their company implies online that their leather is best for writing, but I got a personal email from C. that says the matte is the best for writing as it it tougher. I have an irregularly shaped desk. The work area where the keyboard is bows outward. Do you think there would be any way to cut this to contour it to fit? Wondering if it might be a bit too thick to trim down. Thoughts?
